Robotic & PLC Programmer About Dyco Inc. Dyco is a long-established, privately held manufacturer of custom engineered equipment and integrated material handling systems. We design, manufacture, install, and support equipment used to handle and convey lightweight containers, primarily plastic, for customers across a wide range of industries. From individual machines to complete integrated systems, our projects bring together mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation, manufacturing, installation, and service. Dyco has built its reputation by providing custom solutions, dependable equipment, and long-term support to our customers. About the Role Dyco is seeking a Robotic & PLC Programmer to join our Engineering team. Our programmers work on custom equipment and integrated systems, so no two days are the same. You will program and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, robotic cells, conveyors, HMIs, motion systems, and other automation using platforms including Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, FANUC, and KUKA. This is a hands-on position that goes beyond writing code. You will work alongside our engineering and production teams to bring equipment to life on our shop floor, then support installation and startup at customer facilities. You will have the opportunity to see projects through from concept and programming to testing, installation, and operation.
Responsibilities:
  • Write PLC programs for new automatic and semi-automatic machines and conveyor systems using Allen-Bradley/Rockwell platforms
  • Write, teach, and refine robot programs for robotic cells using Fanuc and Kuka robots
  • Create and support HMI screens, motion control, I/O setup, and machine safety logic as required
  • Debug, test, and validate PLC and robotic programs on the production floor and at customer facilities
  • Conduct comprehensive machine and system testing prior to shipment
  • Assist with startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer support after installation
  • Assist with developing customer manuals and startup documentation for newly designed machines and conveyor systems
  • Assist in risk assessment of newly designed machines
  • Follow flowcharts and complete quality checklists or procedures
  • Assist with conceptual design of new/custom equipment, components, and machine operation
  • Conduct necessary research to support programming, equipment selection, and troubleshooting
  • Help refine and develop programming standards, reusable methods, and best practices
  • Assist sales with layouts, quotes, and concept development
  • Support Dyco installation and service crews as needed
  • Answer and coordinate customer service calls related to controls, automation, and equipment operation
  • Manage and coordinate assigned projects through completion
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of PLC and/or robotic programming methods and principles
  • Aptitude and ability to learn KUKA, FANUC, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, and other automation software
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot controls and/or machine-level issues
  • Ability to coordinate with engineers, programmers, builders, installers, and customers on large systems and machines
  • Basic understanding of machine operation, mechanical systems, and industrial applications
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office products
  • Availability for overnight travel for project startups and service support, including multi-day trips
Experience:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, Mechanical Design Engineering or equivalent experience- Preferred not required
  • Professional work experience required; Experience in automation, machine building, robotics, controls, or industrial environments preferred not required $2,000 Sign-On Bonus - $500 paid at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months for employees in good standing.
