Electrical Design Engineer Baltimore, MD | Early-Career Opportunity An established consulting engineering firm is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join its Baltimore office. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who wants hands-on design experience, exposure to diverse building types, and support toward earning an EIT credential and advancing within the MEP consulting profession. You'll contribute to projects throughout the Baltimore region across commercial, institutional, municipal, and industrial markets—including water and wastewater facilities. The role offers a valuable combination of office-based design, multidisciplinary coordination, construction-phase involvement, and professional development. What You'll Do Design electrical systems for commercial, institutional, municipal, and industrial facilities. Prepare electrical drawings, calculations, specifications, reports, and other construction documents. Assist with power-distribution, lighting, and related building-system designs. Perform short-circuit and electrical-system analyses using SKM or comparable software. Perform lighting and photometric calculations using AGi32 or similar software. Apply relevant electrical, building, energy, and life-safety codes to project designs. Coordinate electrical work with architects, engineers, clients, and other project disciplines. Review designs for code compliance, technical quality, constructability, and industry best practices. Support the preparation and coordination of contract documents. Help deliver accurate designs that meet project schedules and budgets. Participate in quality-assurance and quality-control reviews. Attend project and construction meetings. Conduct site surveys and construction-phase inspections. Help resolve field questions and construction-related design issues. Prepare clear, professional technical studies and reports. What We're Looking For Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university , or an accepted equivalent. Approximately 1-4 years of electrical design experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry. Experience or academic exposure involving commercial, institutional, municipal, or industrial facilities. Strong understanding of construction documents, construction processes, and constructability. Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit. Familiarity with electrical engineering analysis and design software. Experience with SKM or another recognized short-circuit analysis program. Experience with AGi32 or another recognized photometric calculation program. Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and industry standards. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, code-compliant work. Ability to manage priorities, collaborate effectively, and meet project deadlines.
