Programmer:

We are looking for a mid-level

SCADA/PLC

programmer to join our controls team in Golden, CO. The work is a mix of new system design and ongoing support of the systems our clients already run, including plant upgrades, control modifications, radio telemetry networks, and Ignition SCADA applications for municipal water and wastewater clients. There is room to take on advanced integration work as you grow into the role. This position suits someone who works well independently. You will own your projects and manage your own schedule across multiple jobs, with assistance from senior engineers.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and implement control systems for water and wastewater treatment processes Write, test, and troubleshoot PLC logic for new and existing systems Build HMI applications for panel-mounted OITs and SCADA applications for plant-wide monitoring and control, including screens, graphics, tags, alarming, historian, and data trends Design, configure, and maintain radio telemetry systems connecting remote sites (lift stations, wells, tanks, and booster stations) back to a central SCADA system Diagnose and resolve control system issues and provide technical support for plant malfunctions Participate in field service and commissioning activities, including control strategy implementation and system startup Travel to client job sites for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting (primarily within Colorado) Provide occasional after-hours or weekend support during plant cutovers, startups, and critical troubleshooting Support advanced projects involving scripting and database integration, including SQL-backed Ignition applications, data analytics, and custom reporting Document control system designs and configurations, including wiring diagrams, PLC logic, and HMI screen layouts

Qualifications:

5-10 years of hands-on experience with SCADA, PLC, and HMI programming in industrial automation, preferably in water/wastewater treatment or a similar process-driven environment Proficiency in ladder logic and structured programming on Allen Bradley PLCs (CompactLogix, ControlLogix, MicroLogix), including project organization, UDTs, and add-on instructions, plus working experience with automation protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, or Profibus. Familiarity with other PLC brands is a plus. Experience with Ignition SCADA and Rockwell FactoryTalk View. Familiarity with other platforms such as Wonderware, Iconics, and GE iFix is a plus. Understanding of operator-facing design practice, including screen hierarchy and navigation, alarm rationalization and management, and real-time data trending Control systems design and troubleshooting experience, including electrical and instrumentation systems Knowledge of networking and communication protocols used in industrial control systems (e.g., TCP/IP, OPC) Experience with radio telemetry networks, including licensed or unlicensed radios (Ubiquiti, MDS, Trio, FreeWave, or similar) and polled communications over DNP3 or Modbus Familiarity with industrial control hardware, including VFDs, sensors, actuators, and other field devices Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) Ability to perform root cause analysis on recurring or intermittent control system faults Ability to write technical reports, user manuals, and as-built system documentation Clear written and verbal communication with engineers, plant operators, and maintenance staff Demonstrated ability to work independently, including prioritizing your own workload across concurrent projects, driving tasks to completion without close supervision, and recognizing when to raise an issue to the team Preferred Qualifications (not required): Python scripting: used heavily in Ignition and a significant help on our more advanced projects Advanced training in communication protocols like Modbus

Ethernet/IP, Siemens/Profibus, DNP3, MQTT Working knowledge of relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL), including writing queries, understanding table structure, and connecting SCADA data to reporting or historian databases Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, automation, or a related field Certifications such as ISA Certified Automation Professional (CAP) or related credentials are a plus
