[On-site] Position Overview A growing engineering firm in the West End area is seeking an Electrical Designer or Electrical Engineer to join its expanding team. Due to increased project demand, this role will support the design and production of electrical systems for residential, commercial, industrial, and other building projects. The selected candidate will work under the direction of the Chief Electrical Engineer and collaborate with the electrical design team to produce accurate, code-compliant drawings and technical documents consistent with industry, company, client, and project standards. This opportunity is well suited for an entry- to mid-level professional who wants to contribute to active projects while developing their design, engineering, and project coordination skills. Key Responsibilities Prepare electrical layout drawings, load calculations, schematics, grid plan layouts, and technical documentation. Apply the National Electrical Code and other applicable design codes and specifications to meet project requirements. Assist with the design of electrical power distribution, lighting systems, protection and control systems, and site and facility electrical systems. Prepare and revise engineering drawings from rough sketches, redlines, markups, verbal instructions, notes, and general engineering information. Support a full range of drawing production activities, including design layout, problem analysis, system component sizing, drawing sequencing, and presentation. Assist with initial design concepts, rough sketches, redlines, and markups for new and ongoing projects. Analyze reports, drawings, field information, and test data to support project planning and design. Assist with establishing electrical CAD configurations, templates, standards, and procedures at the beginning of projects. Follow all applicable company, client, project, drafting, and design standards. Complete and review design drawings within project scope, budget, schedule, and allotted hours. Perform assigned project tasks accurately and efficiently while meeting established deadlines. Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, clients, and other project stakeholders. Organize and maintain current and historical revisions of project drawings, plot files, CAD files, and related project information in a logical, well-structured manner. Participate in project meetings, site visits, field assessments, and construction-related coordination as needed. Qualifications Associate degree, technical diploma, or relevant drafting/design experience considered for Electrical Designer candidates. Approximately 0-5 years of experience in electrical design or engineering; relevant internship, academic, or project experience is welcome. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or other electrical CAD and design software. Basic knowledge of electrical layouts, power systems, lighting, load calculations, and construction documentation. Familiarity with the NEC and other applicable codes and standards. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce organized, accurate drawings.
