Job Description A client in HSV AL or Franklin NC is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Systems Engineer to lead and coordinate system‑level design and development activities for rugged military‑grade embedded computing systems and automated test equipment (ATE). This mid‑career role is ideal for an engineer who excels at integrating multidisciplinary engineering efforts, aligning technical approaches with customer requirements, and ensuring cohesive, mission‑ready solutions. Oversee the architecture, planning, and system‑level integration of embedded computing systems and automated test equipment. Translate customer requirements into clear engineering specifications, ensuring alignment across electrical, mechanical, software, and test engineering teams. Lead system‑level design reviews, risk assessments, requirements validation, and engineering planning. Ensure that all subsystem designs integrate successfully and meet functional, environmental, and performance requirements for rugged military‑grade electronics. Support reverse‑engineering and modernization efforts for legacy systems, ensuring updated designs satisfy form, fit, and function requirements. Maintain technical ownership of system interfaces, design baselines, engineering documentation, and configuration management. Collaborate with program management and engineering leads to ensure scope, schedule, and technical performance objectives are achieved. Skills and Requirements B.S. in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering ,Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field 5+ years of professional experience supporting system‑level engineering for embedded systems, rugged electronics, aerospace, or defense programs. Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering principles and system integration best practices. Ability to translate customer requirements into actionable engineering specifications and plans. Experience with ruggedized or military‑spec hardware development. Familiarity with DoD standards, requirements development, and verification/validation processes. Experience with interface control documentation (ICDs), system architecture modeling, or MBSE approaches. Knowledge of reverse‑engineering methodologies and legacy system sustainment. Strong communication and coordination skills across cross‑functional engineering teams.
