Base Salary + Commission About Summit Electric & Data Summit Electric & Data is a growing commercial electrical and low-voltage contractor supporting enterprise and multi-location clients across the United States. Our low-voltage division provides a wide range of technology solutions, including professional audio, AV, structured cabling, security cameras, access control, digital signage, LED video walls, and other integrated systems. As part of our continued growth, Summit is launching a new commercial professional audio sales program next year focused on providing complete, standardized audio packages to commercial and enterprise customers. We are looking for a Commercial Audio Sales & Design Specialist to help build and grow this program. The Opportunity This is a unique opportunity for someone who understands professional audio and also enjoys working directly with customers. The Commercial Audio Sales & Design Specialist will be responsible for helping customers identify the right audio solution for their space, designing appropriate systems, developing proposals, and ultimately selling complete commercial audio packages. This is a base salary plus commission position , with compensation designed to strongly reward sales performance and growth of the audio program. We are not looking for a traditional salesperson with no technical audio background. The right candidate should understand sound, speaker selection, amplification, DSP, system design, coverage, and the fundamentals of designing professional audio systems for commercial environments. What You'll Be Selling The role will focus on complete professional audio solutions for commercial environments such as: Fitness centers Group fitness studios Yoga and Pilates studios Retail environments Restaurants and hospitality Corporate offices Training rooms Commercial facilities Multi-location and enterprise customers New construction and tenant improvement projects Systems may include: Professional loudspeakers Subwoofers Amplifiers DSP and signal processing Wireless microphones Music sources Control systems Equipment racks Cabling and infrastructure Complete turnkey audio packages The goal is not simply to sell individual products. The goal is to understand the customer's environment and provide a complete audio solution that performs properly and can be professionally installed by Summit. Key ResponsibilitiesAudio Sales Develop and close commercial professional audio opportunities. Work with new and existing Summit customers to identify audio needs. Present recommended audio packages and solutions to customers. Build relationships with commercial and enterprise decision-makers. Follow up on proposals and actively move opportunities toward closing. Develop repeat business and multi-location audio opportunities. Identify opportunities to introduce professional audio solutions into Summit's existing customer base. Generate new opportunities through outreach, referrals, relationships, and prospecting. Maintain an organized pipeline of active audio opportunities. Audio System Design Evaluate commercial spaces and recommend appropriate audio solutions. Select speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers, DSP, microphones, and related equipment. Understand speaker coverage, system output, zoning, and appropriate equipment placement. Develop system concepts based on room size, use case, customer expectations, and budget. Assist with equipment layouts and system documentation. Use audio modeling and design software when appropriate. Work with Summit's technical and installation teams to ensure proposed systems can be successfully installed and commissioned. Help develop standardized audio packages for common commercial applications. Customer Consultation Meet with customers to understand how their space will be used and what they expect from the audio system. Explain technical audio concepts in a way that is easy for non-technical customers to understand. Conduct site walks and review architectural drawings when necessary. Present system recommendations and explain why specific equipment has been selected. Balance system performance, aesthetics, customer budget, and installation requirements. Develop long-term relationships with customers rather than focusing solely on one-time equipment sales. Program Development Because this is a new program, this person will also have an opportunity to help shape how Summit approaches commercial audio sales.
Responsibilities may include:

Working with manufacturers and distribution partners. Helping identify target markets and industries. Providing feedback from customers to improve our audio offerings. Helping Summit grow professional audio into a significant part of our low-voltage business. Required Experience Candidates must have professional audio experience. We are looking for someone who understands audio systems beyond simply selling equipment. The ideal candidate should have experience with: Professional or commercial audio system design. Speaker selection and placement. Amplifier selection and system sizing. DSP and audio signal flow. Subwoofer integration. Commercial audio applications. Reading drawings, floor plans, or reflected ceiling plans. Developing equipment lists or bills of materials. Communicating audio system concepts to customers. Previous experience in audio sales, AV integration, system design, audio engineering, installation, commissioning, or a similar role may all be relevant. You should be able to walk into a commercial space, understand what the customer is trying to accomplish, identify an appropriate system, and confidently explain and sell that solution. We're looking for someone who: Is passionate about professional audio and sound. Understands how properly designed audio systems work. Is comfortable meeting and presenting to customers. Enjoys sales and is motivated by commission-based earnings. Can communicate technical concepts without overwhelming the customer. Is comfortable developing new customer relationships. Can work independently and take ownership of opportunities. Is organized and follows opportunities through from initial conversation to signed proposal. Wants to help build a new program rather than simply step into an established sales territory.
