Client is seeking proactive engaged talent to join Electrical Product Design and Integration Engineering team as Electrical Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design Engineer II to support design, development, test (design verification, qualification, and certification) of electronic hardware for aerospace and aviation applications.

Ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing complex mixed-signal, digital, and power electronics PCBAs using Altium Designer or comparable PCB design tools. Individual should be familiar with aviation environmental and regulatory requirements including

RTCA DO-160

environmental qualification testing, FAA certification processes, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and design practices associated with safety-critical airborne electronic systems.

This position requires collaborative engineer who can work closely with systems, mechanical, manufacturing, test, and certification teams throughout product lifecycle.

Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop multi-layer PCBAs for aerospace and aviation applications from concept through production

Create schematics, PCB layouts, fabrication drawings, assembly documentation, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)

Perform component selection and lifecycle management with consideration for aerospace reliability and environmental requirements

Support analog, digital, mixed-signal, power distribution, and high-speed interface designs

Conduct signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, and thermal design assessments

Develop hardware verification and support development of qualification plans

Support laboratory testing, debugging, failure analysis, and root cause investigations

Collaborate with test engineers to execute environmental qualification activities

Support compliance testing including but not limited to:
RTCA DO-160

environmental qualification testing

EMI/EMC testing

Power input and transient testing

Temperature, vibration, humidity, and altitude testing

Coordinate with systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and certification engineering teams

Support production transitions, sustaining engineering, and field issue resolution

Address design to cost, design for manufacturability, design to test, and reliability metrics of new developments. Establish plans to address gaps to requirements

Author engineering data which will be checked by peer groups or other project participants

Check engineering data which is authored by other engineers or project participants

Provide technical support during manufacturing and development of products as required

Requirements

Education:

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline - Minimum Required

Experience:

5+ years experience in electronics hardware design and PCB development - Minimum Required

Required Skills:

Demonstrated experience using Altium Designer or equivalent PCB design platforms (Cadence Allegro, Xpedition, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, etc.)

Experience designing multi-layer PCBAs for commercial aviation, aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries

Knowledge of PCB design and layout best practices

Analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronics design

Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT)

EMI/EMC mitigation techniques

Experience supporting hardware validation, integration, and troubleshooting

Familiarity with engineering documentation, change control processes, and configuration management

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills:

Aerospace or aviation industry experience

Working knowledge of

RTCA DO-160, FAA

certification processes, DO-254 concepts and hardware lifecycle processes

Experience supporting environmental qualification testing and certification programs

Experience with high-speed designs, FPGA-based systems, or embedded electronics

Familiarity with requirements management and systems engineering tools

Experience working with contract manufacturers and PCB fabrication suppliers
