POSITION SUMMARY
- The Electrical Engineer will work in the design and development of power supplies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop efficient and cost-effective circuits and power supplies per customer and regulatory specifications (i.e., analog and digital circuits, embedded controls logic, magnetics, EMI filters, power circuits, etc.) including, schematic capture, board layout, prototype testing, and bench testing code development
- Interface with internal departments to ensure schedule, cost, and quality goals are met
- Develop analytical models, simulation tools and other predictive methods to reduce changes on subsequent iterations of each design
- Participate as an active part of the core team to meet schedule, cost, quality, and customer satisfaction goals
- Assist in the development, testing, and de-bugging of prototype power supply units.
- Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications

Eden Prairie, MN; Must be able to travel occasionally domestically and internationally

Works in a fast-paced power development lab and standard office environmentQUALIFICATIONS
- :•Ability to follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be obtained • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and peers • Ability to learn and use professional concepts appropriate to engineering, including analytical methods, computer aided analysis and design tools, diagnostic instruments and test equipment, lab skills appropriate to design, selecting appropriate components and materials for designs • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
- Proficiency with Windows-based platforms and with computer-based design and analysis tools.
- Working knowledge of Database, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; consistent demonstrated ability to meet schedule requirements and define priorities without direct supervision
EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- 8+ years of experience in electronics design or similar experience
Desirable:
- Experience with Mathcad, Cadence or Altium, Spice based circuit simulation, and scripting/test generation software
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's (BSEE) degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience
COMPENSATION
- _As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $115,000 - $180,000 per year._
