Job Description

Job Title:
Engineering Technician Job Description The Engineering Technician works closely with design, test, and new product introduction engineering teams to build, maintain, and repair test fixtures and test computers, evaluate and update test procedures, and provide hands-on technical support throughout the product development lifecycle. This role focuses on troubleshooting to the component level, supporting prototype development, and contributing to continuous improvement of test methods and documentation in a dynamic engineering lab environment. Responsibilities Work alongside design, test, and new product introduction engineering teams to support product development and testing activities. Troubleshoot electronic systems down to the component level, including test cells, test fixtures, and related equipment. Collaborate with technicians on the production floor to diagnose and resolve issues at the component level in test cells and fixtures. Perform regular and corrective maintenance on test fixtures to ensure reliable and accurate operation. Assist engineers with the design and improvement of test fixtures for new and existing products. Work with engineering teams on prototype builds, providing hands-on support for assembly, wiring, and testing. Physically build test fixtures, including wiring, assembly, and integration of electronic and mechanical components. Troubleshoot and repair test computers, including both hardware and software aspects. Write clear and accurate test procedures to support consistent and repeatable testing. Develop and deliver training on test procedures for electronics technicians to ensure proper execution and understanding. Evaluate and update existing test procedures to improve efficiency, accuracy, and safety. Use electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and 4-wire LCR meters to perform diagnostics and verification. Apply advanced knowledge of digital, analog, and embedded circuits and systems to support testing and troubleshooting. Support new product development initiatives by contributing to test strategy, fixture requirements, and validation activities. Essential Skills Associate degree in a related technical field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant job experience, or a bachelor's degree in a related technical field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant job experience. Strong soldering and rework skills with through-hole and surface-mount (SMT) components. Advanced knowledge of digital and analog circuits. Advanced knowledge of electronic circuits and theory. Advanced knowledge of software concepts with the ability to read some code. Advanced troubleshooting skills down to the component level for analog, digital, and embedded circuits and systems. Advanced ability to build prototypes and wire systems. Advanced ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams. Advanced abilities in schematic capture and electrical design. Advanced ability to use schematic capture software to modify schematics. Advanced ability to use electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and 4-wire LCR meters. Advanced PC skill set covering both software and hardware. Intermediate proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Additional Skills & Qualifications Advanced knowledge of LAN/WAN networking technologies, including Ethernet and TCP/IP. Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems relevant to test fixtures and prototypes. Advanced knowledge of 3D printing and its application to fixture and prototype development. Advanced knowledge of IPC-A-620, IPC-A-610, and
ESD 20-20
standards. Experience supporting design, test, and new product development activities. Interest in continuous learning and working on a variety of non-repetitive, higher-mix technical tasks. Work Environment This role is based in an engineering lab located adjacent to an office environment, providing close collaboration with engineering and technical teams. The lab setting supports hands-on work with electronic and mechanical systems, test fixtures, prototypes, and electronic test equipment. The environment is oriented toward continuous learning, especially for technicians and quality-focused personnel who prefer varied, non-repetitive work over low-mix assembly tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Pleasant, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr.
