They develop the algorithms/software that control speed, torque, power, etc.
Look for candidates who have:
Motor/drive control experience . FOC (Field-Oriented Control) . Experience with traction inverters / converters . Experience with PMSM or induction motors . Strong MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow . C/C++ or embedded C experience. Experience developing control algorithms , not just testing them. MIL/SIL and system-level validation experience. Ideally locomotive, railway, EV, industrial drives, or high-power propulsion experience.

In this role, you will harness your expertise in electrical systems, control engineering, and system development to design innovative drive control solutions that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and reliability. Your proactive approach and technical mastery will drive continuous improvement in complex systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and fostering a culture of excellence. Duties Design, develop, and implement drive control systems utilizing programmable logic controllers (PLCs), microcontrollers (ARM, Arduino), and embedded firmware to meet project specifications. Conduct detailed electrical schematic design and PCB layout using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks, ensuring adherence to electrical codes like NEC and NFPA 70 compliance. Perform system testing, debugging, and root cause analysis on electrical and control systems to troubleshoot issues efficiently during development and manufacturing phases. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate signal processing, automation algorithms, and communication systems expertise into comprehensive control solutions. Utilize simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink for system modeling, verification, and validation of control algorithms before deployment. Lead project scheduling efforts to ensure timely delivery of deliverables while managing multiple tasks related to electronics design, system development verification, and manufacturing support. Apply industry best practices in electronics design, surface mount technology (SMT), soldering techniques, and mechanical integration using tools such as Revit or MicroStation for layout planning. Skills Extensive experience with FPGA programming and digital logic design using SystemVerilog or VHDL for high-performance control applications. Proficiency in circuit design, PCB layout (including surface mount technology), and electrical schematic creation aligned with industry standards. Strong background in control systems engineering with expertise in MATLAB/Simulink modeling, Python scripting, C++, and scripting languages such as Perl or Perl-based automation tools. Knowledge of industrial automation components including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, actuators, vision inspection systems, oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, and firmware development. Familiarity with electrical building codes (NEC), NFPA 70 standards, electrical system design principles for manufacturing environments, and safety protocols such as NFPA 70 compliance. Skilled in troubleshooting complex electrical systems through root cause analysis techniques; capable of diagnosing issues related to signal processing or electronics design failures. Experience practicing in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role with a focus on electronics design, system integration, testing engineering, and manufacturing support. Ability to utilize simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink for system development verification; adept at debugging hardware/software interactions within control architectures. Mechanical engineering knowledge relevant to integrating electrical components into mechanical assemblies using Revit or MicroStation; familiarity with surface mount technology (SMT) assembly processes.
