Job Description

We're looking for an Electronics Engineer to take full ownership of our tool electrical development•from schematic through layout, bring-up, debug, and field support. You'll be the primary electrical engineering resource on a multidisciplinary team spanning mechanical, firmware, surface systems acquisition, operations, and beyond. This role is built on a strong foundation of institutional knowledge developed by highly regarded veterans of this industry who will be part of your onboarding. You're not starting from scratch•you're stepping into proven designs, real field history, and individuals invested in handing it off properly. From that foundation, you'll be expected to lead the electrical engineering contribution to systematic process improvements across how we design, validate, and iterate on tools. In this environment, problems don't always present themselves neatly. A Warrior acquisition issue might trace back to a hardware change. A firmware behavior might be a circuit problem in disguise. The right candidate speaks fluently across the hardware, firmware, and acquisition boundary•and is comfortable working across all three to find the answer.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Schematic capture, PCB layout, and design review across a range of downhole tool electronics Bring-up, bench testing, debug, and field failure analysis EDA toolchain evaluation and migration leadership (we use Altium as a legacy platform; the right hire leads us to what's next) Component selection, BOM management, and vendor relationships Documentation•design files, revision history, test procedures•maintained to a standard that survives personnel changes Collaboration with firmware and surface systems to troubleshoot across the full signal chain
ENVIRONMENT & CONSTRAINTS
Our tools operate downhole: 150°C+ temperatures, high shock and vibration, and tight cylindrical form factors. If you haven't designed for this environment before, be honest about that in your application•we'd rather know upfront.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
3-7+ years of electronics engineering experience, with meaningful time on PCB/schematic design (not just layout) Hands-on debug experience•oscilloscope, logic analyzer, signal tracing under real field conditions Comfortable working in a small team where you're the subject matter expert in your domain Fluent with at least one professional EDA platform; Altium experience is a plus, not a requirement Demonstrated use of AI tools in your engineering workflow•we consider this a professional baseline, not a bonus Downhole, aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability/harsh-environment experience strongly preferred
