Senior Embedded Controls Engineer Location:
Milwaukee, WI Area - Onsite Job Overview Generac is seeking a Senior Embedded Controls Engineer with strong expertise in Model-Based Design using MATLAB/Simulink . The engineer will develop models from scratch for complex physical systems, develop and tune control algorithms, support simulation and validation, and generate production embedded code. Experience with gensets/engine controls, generators, power management, power conversion, or medium-voltage systems is highly relevant. Candidates do not need to have both genset and medium-voltage experience. Key Responsibilities Develop MATLAB/Simulink models from scratch for complex physical and electromechanical systems. Build physics-based, mathematical, or data-driven models. Model systems such as engines, generators, gensets, power conversion equipment, or similar systems . Design, simulate, tune, and validate embedded control algorithms . Configure models for automatic embedded code generation . Support model verification, simulation, MIL/SIL/HIL testing, and controls validation. Generate and validate production-quality embedded software from Simulink models. Collaborate with controls, embedded software, electrical, mechanical, and other engineering teams. Support new product development and next-generation controls technology. Work in a rapidly evolving product-development environment. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline . Strong hands-on MATLAB/Simulink experience. Proven experience building models from scratch , not just modifying existing models. Strong understanding of controls theory, physical-system modeling, and simulation . Experience developing, tuning, and validating control algorithms . Experience with automatic code generation from Simulink or similar model-based development environments . Embedded controls/software development experience. Ability to explain modeling methodologies used to represent real-world systems. Preferred Experience Medium-voltage power systems , preferably 11kV+ . Genset / generator / engine controls . Generators, alternators, power management, power conversion, inverters, electrification, or energy systems. Embedded controls and Model-Based Design.
