In person 548 Foundation is seeking an experienced Battery Technology Instructor to join our workforce development team. The Battery Technology Instructor will provide classroom and hands-on instruction to adult learners preparing for careers in battery technology, energy storage, electric vehicles, and the growing clean energy industry. The ideal candidate will bring practical technical experience and the ability to translate complex battery and energy storage concepts into engaging, accessible instruction. The instructor will help students develop the technical knowledge, safety practices, troubleshooting skills, and professional competencies necessary to enter and advance in the battery and clean energy workforce. Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging classroom and hands-on instruction related to battery technology, energy storage, and related clean energy applications. Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, demonstrations, assessments, and practical exercises. Teach battery fundamentals, battery chemistry, cell and module construction, battery management systems, charging systems, energy storage, and related technologies. Provide hands-on instruction involving battery components, diagnostic equipment, tools, and training systems. Teach electrical fundamentals as they relate to batteries, energy storage, and electric mobility. Introduce students to lithium-ion battery technology, battery packs, battery management systems, and emerging energy storage technologies. Teach proper safety procedures for working with high-voltage systems, batteries, electrical equipment, and energy storage systems. Evaluate student knowledge and technical skills through written assessments, practical exercises, projects, and demonstrations. Provide students with constructive feedback, coaching, and individualized support. Maintain accurate attendance, grades, student progress, and required instructional documentation. Collaborate with case management, workforce development, placement staff, and industry partners to support student success. Essential Duties Provide daily classroom and laboratory instruction. Demonstrate proper use of battery systems, electrical equipment, diagnostic tools, PPE, and safety procedures. Lead students through hands-on battery and energy storage projects and exercises. Teach battery testing, diagnostics, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safe handling practices. Introduce students to battery management systems and battery monitoring technologies. Teach students how to identify electrical and battery-related hazards and apply appropriate safety controls. Monitor student performance and provide timely intervention when additional support is needed. Ensure all laboratory and hands-on activities are conducted safely. Maintain an organized instructional environment and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained. Document student progress and communicate concerns to the appropriate members of the leadership team. Support student preparation for employment, apprenticeship opportunities, and industry-recognized credentials. Participate in employer engagement, industry events, jobsite visits, and other workforce development activities as assigned. Qualifications 5 years of professional experience working with batteries, energy storage systems, electric vehicles, electrical systems, renewable energy, or a related technical field. Demonstrated hands-on experience with battery systems, battery technology, energy storage, or high-voltage electrical systems. Experience teaching, training, mentoring, or supervising others preferred. Strong understanding of battery fundamentals, electrical principles, battery management systems, and energy storage technologies. Experience with lithium-ion batteries and battery packs preferred. Experience with electric vehicles, EV charging systems, or stationary energy storage preferred. Ability to teach adult learners with varying educational and professional backgrounds.
