Building Energy Engineer Position Type:

We specialize in energy audits, retro-commissioning, building optimization, benchmarking, and implementation support for hotels and commercial buildings in Colorado. (impactenergyec.com) The role is centered around three primary responsibilities: 1. Perform On-Site Energy Audits & Building Assessments Conduct ASHRAE Level I-III Energy Audits and Retro-Commissioning (RCx) site investigations. Evaluate HVAC systems, Building Automation Systems (BAS), controls, lighting, and other building systems. Identify Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) and operational improvements. Travel to project sites (primarily Colorado) approximately two times per year. 2. Prepare Technical Energy Audit Reports Develop comprehensive engineering reports documenting findings and recommendations. Perform engineering calculations and energy savings analysis. Estimate implementation costs, utility savings, and financial payback. Proficient in developing detailed sequences of operation that can be handed directly to controls contractors for implementation. Create clear implementation plans that contractors and owners can execute. 3. Support Clients Through Implementation Participate in client meetings to explain audit findings and recommendations. Coordinate with owners, mechanical contractors, controls contractors, and vendors. Answer technical questions during implementation. Provide engineering support through completion of the recommended energy measures.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 15 years of experience performing commercial energy audits, commissioning, or retro-commissioning. Extensive experience with large commercial buildings (100,000+ SF).

Strong knowledge of:

HVAC systems Building Automation Systems (BAS) Direct Digital Controls (DDC) Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) Experience developing engineering calculations and energy savings analyses. Exceptional technical writing skills. Strong communication and client presentation skills. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or related field (required). Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required. Highly organized and able to work independently.

Compensation & Logistics Pay:

$125-$175 per hour (DOE)
