Project Designer, Energy Projects

Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Designer, Energy Projects to join our team. You will be responsible for designing and planning energy projects, including solar, storage, and EV charging systems, for commercial, industrial, utility, and government clients. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a creative mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders. The Project Designer, Energy Projects will play a vital role in delivering innovative and sustainable energy solutions. Design and plan energy projects, including solar, storage, and EV charging systems, in accordance with client requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines Participate in project meetings and conduct site assessments to evaluate feasibility, determine optimal system configurations, and ensure successful project outcomes Develop detailed project proposals, including system layouts, equipment specifications, and cost estimates Keep abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in energy system design Engage in regular communication with clients, vendors, Utilities, AHJs, and contractors to facilitate project execution; collaborate with Engineering and Constructions teams to ensure design feasibility and compliance Provide technical support during project implementation, including responding to design and engineering-related inquiries and addressing design modifications Perform energy simulations and analysis to optimize system performance and energy generation, document project design details, specifications, and changes for reference and future analysis Degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy or equivalent experience Proven experience in designing energy projects, preferably in the solar, storage, or EV charging industry Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and other relevant design tools to create accurate and detailed drawings, with strong understanding of energy system components, electrical line diagrams, and construction plans Familiarity with energy modeling software and simulation tools Knowledge of national and local electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines Creative thinking and a passion for sustainable energy solutions Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $96,000 - $210,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
