Job Description

NTT INDYCAR
SERIES and four entries in
INDY NXT
by Firestone. Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) has won 24 championships and over 270 races, including six wins in the Indianapolis 500, eight Rolex 24 At Daytona victories, and wins in the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. CGR has successful business partnerships with DHL, OpenAI, PNC Bank, Root Insurance, SOLO Cup, Sunoco, and more. The team boasts state-of-the-art facilities in Indianapolis, where the INDYCAR and
INDY NXT
teams are located, and a corporate office in Pittsburgh. The Lead Race Engineer is responsible for supporting the Race Engineer and team by providing expertise in data acquisition, performance analysis, and optimizing race car operations. This role involves working closely with drivers, strategists, mechanics, and other engineers to enhance vehicle performance and ensure successful race execution. Responsibilities Collaborate with drivers, engineers, and mechanics to manage race car operations during events. Optimize race car specifications and evolve them for enhanced performance. Analyze car performance data to provide actionable insights. Develop pit stop strategies in partnership with the strategist. Contribute to race car development projects, from inception to completion. Conduct off-track testing and measure vehicle performance. Create analytical tools to maximize vehicle efficiency. Maintain detailed knowledge of the vehicle to support improvement and data sharing processes. Represent the team and sponsors professionally on and off the track, ensuring a positive experience for sponsors and guests during tours. Qualifications Mechanical Engineering or relevant college degree required. Experience in IndyCar, IMSA, team internships, or Formula SAE programs is essential Strong knowledge of mechanical design, aerodynamics, and electronic systems. Proficiency with software tools such as Excel, Pi, Motec, VBA, SolidWorks, and MS Office 365. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment. Familiarity with the components, structural framework, and aerodynamics of race cars.
