is an engineering and consulting firm providing multidisciplinary engineering, energy, infrastructure, and technical advisory services to utilities, government agencies, municipalities, industrial clients, and private-sector organizations. Our technical capabilities span electrical, mechanical, civil/structural engineering, energy, controls and automation, renewable energy, battery energy storage, EV infrastructure, utility systems, and energy efficiency. As WRAAB continues to expand its presence in California, we are seeking an experienced Strategic Growth Development Partne r who can complement our strong technical organization with proven business-development, client-development, and market-growth capabilities. The Opportunity This is an opportunity for an established industry professional with a strong network and demonstrated track record of generating significant engineering and energy-sector business to join WRAAB in a strategic growth role. We are specifically looking for someone who is already active in the Northern California energy and engineering market , understands how engineering and energy projects are won, and has established relationships with utilities, government agencies, engineering firms, EPC contractors, developers, industrial clients, and other potential customers. The ideal partner will bring the market access, relationships, business-development strategy, and revenue-generation capability , while WRAAB provides the technical engineering team, project execution capabilities, and multidisciplinary resources. This is not a traditional sales position. We are seeking a business partner and growth leader who can help build a significant and sustainable book of business for WRAAB. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute WRAAB's Northern California business-development strategy . Identify, pursue, and secure new engineering, energy, infrastructure, and consulting opportunities. Leverage existing industry relationships to generate qualified leads and new client relationships.
Develop relationships with:
Investor-owned and public utilities Municipalities and government agencies Engineering and architectural firms EPC contractors Energy developers Industrial and commercial customers Water/wastewater agencies Transportation agencies Technology and energy-service companies Identify upcoming RFPs, RFQs, task orders, teaming opportunities, and strategic partnerships. Position WRAAB as a preferred engineering and technical-services partner. Lead client outreach, relationship development, presentations, and strategic meetings. Develop teaming and subcontracting relationships with larger engineering and consulting firms. Expand WRAAB's participation in major public-sector and utility programs. Build and maintain a strong opportunity pipeline and sales forecast. Participate in proposal strategy, capture planning, and negotiations. Help establish long-term client relationships rather than pursuing one-time projects. Work closely with WRAAB's technical leadership to translate market opportunities into executable projects. Help determine target markets, clients, services, and geographic expansion priorities. Represent WRAAB at industry conferences, professional organizations, networking events, and client meetings. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have: 10+ years of experience in business development, client development, sales, capture management, or executive leadership within the engineering, energy, infrastructure, or consulting industry. A strong and established Northern California professional network . Demonstrated success in generating millions of dollars in engineering, energy, infrastructure, or consulting business . Existing relationships with decision-makers and influencers at utilities, government agencies, engineering firms, EPCs, developers, or major commercial/industrial organizations. A demonstrated ability to originate opportunities rather than simply manage existing accounts. Strong understanding of the California energy and infrastructure market. Experience with public-sector procurement, RFP/RFQ processes, utility contracting, teaming, and subcontracting. Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to operate independently. Ability to identify opportunities early and develop them into funded projects. Strong understanding of engineering and energy services sufficient to communicate effectively with technical and executive stakeholders. Preferred Experience Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following: Electric utilities and grid infrastructure Renewable energy and solar Battery energy storage systems Demand response and energy efficiency Microgrids EV infrastructure Substations and transmission/distribution Water and wastewater infrastructure Industrial energy systems MEP engineering Controls, automation, and SCADA Energy consulting and sustainability Government and municipal infrastructure Engineering/EPC consulting California utility programs and procurement What WRAAB Provides The successful partner will have access to WRAAB's existing technical capabilities and multidisciplinary engineering resources, including: Electrical engineering Mechanical engineering Civil/structural engineering Energy engineering and energy efficiency Renewable energy and energy storage EV infrastructure Controls, automation, and communications Utility and infrastructure engineering Energy audits and technical advisory services Engineering design, studies, and project support You bring the relationships and opportunities. WRAAB brings the technical depth and execution capability. Compensation & Partnership Structure This position is intended to be structured as a performance-based strategic partnership , rather than a conventional fixed-salary sales position. Depending on the candidate's experience, network, level of involvement, and demonstrated ability to generate business, the compensation may include: Performance-based business-development compensation Commission or success-based compensation Project-level profit sharing Profit sharing based on business generated A combination of compensation and profit sharing Potential long-term strategic partnership/equity arrangement for the right individual The specific structure will be mutually agreed upon and will reflect the value of the business and relationships the partner brings to WRAAB. What Success Looks Like Within the first 12-24 months, the successful partner will be expected to: Establish a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities. Develop new strategic client relationships. Generate and convert significant engineering and energy-sector opportunities. Expand WRAAB's presence among utilities, government agencies, and major engineering/EPC organizations. Help secure multi-million-dollar project opportunities and a sustainable long-term backlog . Establish WRAAB as a recognized and trusted engineering partner in the Northern California market.
