Job Description
Overview The Principal Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) Engineer position is a full-time exempt position. The individual will lead the GNC solution development for a hypersonic research and development program. The solution includes GNC architecture and algorithm development, modeling and simulation, analysis and verification tests, as well as provide oversight of GNC engineering activities. The individual will report to a Program Director. Responsibilities Lead a team of GNC engineers to design and develop the GNC solution for a hypersonic vehicle. Apply knowledge of classical and modern methods, theories, and research techniques in the design, analysis, modeling, and simulation of GNC systems. Contribute to the development of models, simulations, algorithms, software, and analysis of the GNC solution. Lead design trade studies and system performance analysis to validate GNC solution. Document studies and analysis findings via briefings, scientific papers and technical reports. Develop software-in-the-loop (SIL)/ Hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) system architecture and implementation to evaluate GNC solutions. Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship to engineers developing technical solutions for customers. Develop and deliver technical presentations to customers and stakeholders throughout program execution. Support other duties as assigned. Skills and Competencies MS degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science. 20 years of GNC system development experience on complex aerospace systems for DoD. Demonstrated technical leadership experience in the DoD programs. Demonstrated experience with GNC simulation and algorithm development for guided weapon system and concept flight performance predictions. Hypersonic vehicle experience is highly desired. Scientific programming experience required. Programming experience with C. C++, MATLAB and/or Simulink code development. Experience developing and presenting complex technical information via briefings, technical papers and project task reports. Ability to work as an individual contributor or in a dynamic team environment. Ability to adapt to changing requirements and design implementations. Good oral and written communication skills are required. Ability to organize work and deliver on time work products. Location Arlington, VA Clearance Secret Clearance Required. Ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance desired.
