Required Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED), supplemented by technical training or coursework in building automation systems (BAS) and/or HVAC systems to include microprocessor-based electronic equipment. One (1) year of experience in the repair, maintenance, and operation of industrial HVAC systems. Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience. Possession of an appropriate, valid motor vehicle operator's license with a good driving record. Position may be required to work an evening and/or night shift on a regular or rotating basis, accept call-back overtime or regular overtime, and/or agree to assume an emergency call-out list status. Knowledge of HVAC systems and controls. Knowledge of energy management computer operation and programming. Ability to resolve computer-related problems and provide assistance on plant operation problems. Ability to read and interpret instructions, diagrams, sketches, blueprints, and manufacturers' manuals. Ability to analyze, interpret, and report findings. Ability to effectively interface and maintain working relationships with school-based employees, maintenance personnel, and contractors Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Preferred Knowledge of various BAS operating systems (such as Trane, Delta, and Siemens).

Major Duties/Essential Functions:

Operates, monitors data, services, tests and/or repairs the BAS systems in accordance with energy management program procedures. Troubleshoots energy management system controllers and control system networks and repairs or replaces equipment as needed. Uses trend data to aid in diagnosing building control issues. Reviews control programming sequences and works with energy systems specialists in modifying control sequences according to the energy management program. Provides limited training and technical support of BAS systems to HVAC technicians and supervisors, school operating engineers, and other authorized building users. Periodically works with outside contractors in repairing BAS systems. Assists with maintaining records, drawings, and other information on BAS systems and HVAC equipment. Performs related duties as required or assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must adhere to all site safety regulations and may be required to regularly stand, sit, walk, bend, climb ladders, and/or kneel. There may be exposure to extreme heat and cold, outdoor environments, heavy equipment, moving machinery, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noises. This job requires lifting up to 25 lbs., periodically lifting/moving up to 50 lbs., and occasional lifting/moving up to 100 lbs. alone or with assistance.
