We are seeking an Engineering Manager responsible for leading, developing, and mentoring the Engineering team to ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable production of connectors, cable assemblies, and related components. This role oversees the design engineering team, workflow optimization, and the implementation of manufacturing best practices to support safety, quality, on-time delivery, and cost objectives.
Leadership & Core Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Design Engineering team by providing technical support through customer interface, CAD design, review & compliance, contract review, process implementation, planning, and production support Support the Long term organic growth strategy by being focused on Revenue & EBITDA, contract review, fast and accurate design release, Reduction / Elimination of EC's, RMA's & CAR's, Improved inspections, Yield, & reduced Inventory adjustments Determine, communicate, and verify contractual / engineering requirements, specifications, goals and objectives. Review and approve all project plans and specifications; sign off on completion and appropriate intervals and upon completion of project. Culture - Champion the Winchester culture while creating a strong organization Provides career development, mentoring, and succession planning Actively participate on behalf of the Engineering team both internally and externally on NPI projects, Quoting, Contract Review, Process Specifications, Design Release, MRB, RMA's, CAR's, production, and general customer inquiries Support the Engineering strategy with measurable KPI's that aligns with Hermetics short and long term growth goals, focuses on your department and compliments the others Strengthen/build your department around targeting the long term growth strategy and Engineering sustainability (utilize the DOA for hiring) Collaborate frequently with other departments to ensure engineering support, accurate and timely quotes, contract review, OTD, System usage, and customer communication is supported Support new business opportunities from creation through production execution to ensure success and customer satisfaction Facilitate quick and accurate design release/EC's, process improvements, and system updates / integration that lead to improved efficiencies and yields. Continually seek ways to best delegate authority, assign responsibilities, cross-train, and improve communication and processes/systems with the internal team and other departments Identify areas to invest in to support future growth (utilize DOA for capex approval) Communicate with your team at a cadence that makes expectations and performance clear
Position Requirements:
Education & Technical Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field required. 7+ years of experience in engineering, preferably in connectors, cables, or electromechanical assembly. 3+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience. Strong knowledge of cable assembly, connector manufacturing, crimping, soldering, molding, and electro-mechanical assembly processes. Experience with Lean / Six Sigma methodologies (certification preferred). Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and ERP/MRP systems. Familiarity with process validation, DOE, and statistical analysis. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively. Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and continuous improvement focus. Ability to move around the production floor, lift up to 25 lbs occasionally, and work near manufacturing equipment.
