full-time A well-established aerospace and defense organisation supporting long-term NASA and complex space programs is seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineering Manager to join its growing team in San Diego. This is a hands-on leadership role, suited to someone who enjoys balancing technical ownership with team development.
The Role:
- Lead opto-mechanical development across complex aerospace programs
- Manage a small team of engineers while remaining technically involved
- Own key technical decisions and contribute to proposals and customer discussions
- Work across high-reliability hardware systems
About You:
- Mechanical Engineering background with strong optical systems experience
- Experience delivering complex aerospace or precision hardware systems
- Previous team leadership experience
- Proficient in SolidWorks or Creo
- Space experience preferred, aerospace or automotive lidar backgrounds also considered This is a high-impact role within a stable, long-term program environment, offering technical depth and leadership growth.
