Job Description

Federal Commissioning (Cx) Operations Manager Smith Seckman Reid, Inc life insurance, parental leave, tuition reimbursement, 401(k) 7935 East Prentice Avenue (Show on map) Jun 17, 2026 Description What You'll Do Lead growth, execution, and delivery of federal commissioning services across projects and teams. Identify and pursue new federal market opportunities aligned with SSR's strategic goals Build and maintain strong client relationships across federal agencies and partners Develop and execute pursuit strategies, proposals, and value propositions Collaborate with marketing and business development on proposals and CRM tracking Manage, mentor, and develop team members while overseeing staffing and workload planning Ensure technical quality, performance standards, and process consistency across projects Provide senior-level oversight for commissioning activities, including plans, testing, and documentation Support resolution of complex technical challenges and project conflicts Lead project planning including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and execution Conduct site visits, inspections, and functional testing activities Facilitate client, owner, and stakeholder meetings and maintain clear communication Monitor project financial performance including billing, forecasting, and profitability Stay current on federal regulations, commissioning standards, and industry trends
Who We're Looking For Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Licensed Architect Minimum 12 years of relevant experience; commissioning experience strongly preferred Prior experience with Department of Defense (DoD) projects preferred Must hold a current Commissioning Authority (CxA) certification or obtain it within the first 90 days of employment Must be willing to apply for and maintain a work visa (with company support) for project work in foreign countries Must be willing to apply for and maintain a company credit card with sufficient capacity to cover monthly travel expenses pending reimbursement Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Common Access Card (CAC) as required for access to client facilities, systems, and projects. Certain projects may require U.S. citizenship or other eligibility criteria as mandated by federal law, regulation, or contract requirements. Candidates must be able to meet the requirements applicable to assigned projects. Employer sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive experience managing federal commissioning projects and teams Strong understanding of federal acquisition processes and contract vehicles Familiarity with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), building codes, and federal standards Expertise in mechanical and electrical building systems and commissioning methodologies Proven success in business development, client engagement, and revenue growth Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously What We Offer 100% Employee-Owned
