Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES
Kforce has a client in Juno Beach, FL that is seeking an Energy Storage Project Engineer.
Responsibilities:
  • Support design phase and engineer major components for large-scale energy storage projects
  • Recognize inconsistencies in engineering drawings, take corrective action, and strive for better design quality and efficiency
  • Identify and resolve errors in engineering studies and suggest future solutions
  • Prepare technical scopes of work for contracts
  • Support projects from inception to completion by working closely with project managers
  • Influence project teams on engineering tasks
  • Stay updated on project progress and technical issues
  • Manage project milestones and recognize risks
  • Collaborate with suppliers to integrate major equipment
  • Work with diverse teams to solve problems, improve opportunities, and integrate systems and controls
  • Understand specifications for major equipment purchasing, ensure clear communication, and propose solutions
  • Understand permitting requirements, propose solutions to legal challenges, and recommend site design improvements
  • Handle other assigned duties as needed
  • Travel 25% of the time for project specific duties
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Mechanical engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program
  • 5+ years of proven engineering experience
  • Experience with design and/or operation of large-scale power generation or processing plants involving adherence to regulatory requirements while maximizing the performance and reliability of technically complex systems
  • Hands-on experience or strong knowledge of construction methods, including foundations, trenching, electrical terminations and testing, and best safety practices
  • Strong knowledge of technologies in energy storage including varying battery chemistries, power conversion units and DC-DC converters
  • Lithium-ion battery storage safety: Familiarity with
UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA
70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sections
  • Familiarity with interconnection studies and GIA material modification adjustment (MMA) processes, particularly in WECC and CAISO
  • Construction permitting and contracting
  • Shows maturity of technical expertise and assumes responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively conveying technical and non-technical concepts to diverse audiences SME in substation or utility scale energy storage design and/or project management, with established expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
  • Power electronics
  • Battery storage system design
  • Substation design
  • Generation tie design
  • Data Centers The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role.
We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
