Job Description
## Standard Job Description This position manages a team of Tool Engineers and Tool Designers who design, develop and implement industrial machinery and equipment, tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, prototype model production and machine attachments required for AMMM production or experimental use, considering such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection, training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.
- Coordinates and interacts with tooling departments, Jig Shop and Tool Inspection, when supporting tool make efforts and inspecting tools or parts. Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects
- Manages the activities of subordinate associate managers and exempt professionals and guides by function practices and defined management precedents. Maintains communication with internal personnel, external customers, and peers at various levels
- Accountable for setting strategic direction, making decisions, allocating resources, fostering collaboration, and driving the achievement of organizational objectives.
- Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
- A Bachelor's or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field
- Demonstrated ability to work strategically as well as tactically to drive operations
- 8+ years of experience in an engineering/lead/supervisory/managerial role
- Ability to liaison between Production Operations, Manufacturing Sites, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, etc
- Ability to build positive relationships with the customer
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve technical/process issues varying from basic to very complex ## Desired Skills
- Experience with the Aeronautics Line of Business and awareness of Aero Code and local site policies and procedures
- Experience developing and implementing tools required for production or experimental use
- Experience in design for manufacturing / assembly or design for cost / Catia
- Experience with GT&D
- Demonstrated ability to lead high performing engineering teams, manage budgets, and influence cross functional stakeholders
- Experience interfacing with executive leadership across functions and lines of business
- Experience managing or interfacing with contracted employees
