Job Description

About the Role The Project Engineer leads and directs the design, documentation, building and testing of new solutions for off-road equipment, using CAD tools. The Project Engineer supports the product design in production, sales, service, troubleshooting and updating. This position is also responsible for analyzing and providing realistic recommendations on structural components to ensure that design meets the design goals and customer needs. What you'll Do Manage the coordination and overall integration of technical activities for engineering projects. Direct, review or approve product design changes. Confer with management, production, sales, service and marketing staff to discuss product specifications. Design and detail purchased items, machining, weld and assembly prints using CAD software for manufacturability, cost effectiveness and safety. Plan or direct the testing, operation, maintenance or repair of equipment. Support, supervise and assist Assembly Technicians with all aspects of building and testing prototypes and production machines. Supervise assigned personnel in performance of their duties such that performance meets or exceeds expectations. Analyze production issues and create solutions. Assess project feasibility by analyzing technology, resource needs or market demand. Calculate unknown loading and directions where required from data and assumptions. Use engineering tools such as FEA to confirm design integrity. Develop bill of materials. Review, recommend or approve suppliers, supplier quality, product reviews, purchased items and cost estimates. Develop or implement policies, standards or procedures for engineering and technical work. Perform administrative functions, such as reviewing or writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules or purchasing of materials or services. Develop and evaluate engineering staff. Support and mentor Design Engineers and Senior Design Engineers. Communicate and negotiate with suppliers. Travel up to 25% of the time. EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree preferred with a major in Mechanical, Industrial, Agriculture or Electrical Engineering and/or combination of education and 5 years minimum experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read, write and comprehend documents and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to internal and external individuals and groups. Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers and maintain positive interpersonal relationships.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Microsoft Office including, but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook. Proficient in CAD operating software
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Ability to identify the root cause of failed or defective parts and recommend and implement product design solutions. Ability to create robust design, identify changes early in the design progress and to recognize design commonality, creating cost efficient product designs. Must be proficient in material strength calculation skills. Strong knowledge in the FEA area and all associated processes, hydraulics, electronics and strength of materials. Ability to understand material strengths, fatigue strength, and manufacturability to ensure that the right configuration and materials are developed. Ability to supervise staff in the performance of duties such that performance meets or exceeds expectations. Ability to operate fork lift, simple mechanics tools and wrenches, assembly hand tools, drill press, lathe, band saw and assembly power tools.
