As a US Expansion Layout Engineer, you will lead all aspects of planning for a new memory fab manufacturing facility expansion in Boise, Idaho. Crafting and maintaining production equipment layouts that optimize production space and output, you will be responsible to minimize impacts to site facilities. Innovation is highly valued at Micron, and you will have the opportunity to tackle sophisticated problems and establish the foundational plan in a brand-new semiconductor manufacturing facility. The ability to understand and optimally communicate the layout impacts of manufacturing changes is essential.Responsibilities:
- Develop AutoCAD/Revit drawings for all semiconductor equipment installations, de-facilitations, and relocations
- Maintain timely ramp plan layouts that accurately display all planned tool activity and outlines ways to optimize existing and future equipment layouts
- Represent fab areas and coordinate design relocations, upgrades, remodels, and expansions
- Partner with Facilities, Site/Global Engineering, and Fab Support/Automation teams to ensure layout feasibility based on structural, mechanical, electrical, cost, and schedule limitations
- Partner with key collaborators to develop and drive improvements to key performance metrics
- Identify project requirements, develop timelines and business processes, and hold collaborators accountable for their work to meet project objectives
- Collaborate with local and global collaborators to research alternative technical solutions, and develop processes and associated business rules, to address critical/major layout planning issues
- Compose and deliver presentations that clearly articulate sophisticated issues, propose solutions, and identify potential risks to a broad audience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Industrial Engineering (or related field)
- Layout planning skills in AutoCAD required, with intermediate skills in Revit, Navisworks and BIM 360 strongly preferred
- Deep working knowledge of area-specific toolsets, including detailed configuration layouts, operating capabilities, process integration, and underlying mechanical systems (e.g., tool interfaces, utility requirements, service access, and maintenance functionality).
- Experience analyzing and interpreting data, drawing conclusions, defining recommended actions, and reporting results across diverse technical and non-technical groups in a concise and clear manner
Preferred Qualifications:
- Intermediate understanding of the semiconductor manufacturing environment/infrastructure
- Experience turning sophisticated and ambiguous problem statements into structured solutions while working in a highly multi-functional environment
- Operating independently while maintaining a high degree of organization and control
- Leading, prioritizing, and completing several multi-functional projects in parallel and on time
- Experience and/or interest in developing Agentic AI workflows into current or future processes.
