Job Description
Eaton's Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions (GEIS) division is seeking a Commercial Engineering Manager. This position will be based in Highland, IL and relocation within the US is available. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the incumbent will be responsible for responsible for the Commercial Products & Services within the GEIS product lines. This role will support the alignment of priorities with the Commercial Product Line Managers and drive accountability to meet key deliverables. Additionally, the position will support the execution of the Engineering strategy for NPI and NTI.
In this role you will:
- Works with Vice President of Engineering to maintain and execute a 3-year technology roadmap
- Directly oversees the following Engineering functions across the Commercial platform to ensure we have the right skillsets to meet our objectives: NPI, VAVE, Certification and Sustaining.
- Maintains a workforce of highly motivated employees with a morale that is conducive to high levels of employee engagement.
- Attracts, selects, develops, trains, coaches, appraises, and motivates Commercial Engineering teams
- Partners with the Global Product Line Managers to drive overall project execution including milestones, and Engineering deliverables
- Aligns Commercial platforms objectives with the overall business objectives to ensure a strategy-focused workforce
- Works with Vice President of Engineering to continuously improve and standardize our use of Eaton Business System engineering elements (PROLaunch, Prelaunch, DFSS, Portfolio Management and Technology Roadmaps) across platforms
- Coordinates work across global engineering locations for GEIS in Syracuse, NY; Highland, IL; Pune, India
- Manages R D expenses and capital spending for
GEIS Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required
- Minimum ten (10) years' work experience in engineering within a manufacturing environment
- Minimum five (5) years of direct leadership of people experience Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position.

- Master's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or Business Administration
- Prior experience managing a team of Engineers
- Knowledge of Eaton's GEIS products or similar products in the industry
- Experience dealing with product liability and product patent matters
- Proven track record of building organizational capability and talent through effective recruiting, training, coaching, development and optimizing organizational structure
- Knowledge of current engineering techniques, practices, and engineering standards
- Prior experience working within an ERP system (SAP and Enovia)
- Experience working in a global business environment
