Job Description:
Position Overview:
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, execution, and financial performance of complex construction projects. This individual provides leadership to project management teams, ensuring successful project delivery while fostering strong client relationships and supporting business development efforts. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of electrical construction project management experience and a proven ability to lead teams, manage financial performance, and execute large-scale projects.
Position Responsibilities:
Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards to minimize risk and maximize project success. Make strategic decisions regarding project execution and resource allocation. Assume overall responsibility for project performance, schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction. Lead and mentor project management teams through all phases of project delivery. Train and develop project management staff in company processes, procedures, and best practices. Oversee project documentation, logs, tracking systems, and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance. Manage the preparation, negotiation, and execution of change orders to achieve favorable financial outcomes. Maintain project schedules, progress tracking, and required project documentation. Serve as the primary liaison between field operations, clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders. Collaborate with field leadership to ensure construction activities remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with project objectives. Identify project risks and implement corrective actions when necessary. Representing the project during client, subcontractor, and stakeholder meetings. Manage subcontractor performance, including scheduling, cost control, and contract changes. Participate in financial reviews and provide accurate forecasting of project profitability. Oversee contract administration to protect organizational interests while maintaining strong client relationships. Support business development efforts by cultivating existing client relationships and identifying new opportunities. Perform additional project management responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 10 years of project management experience, preferably within electrical construction. Equivalent combinations of trade experience, education, and relevant work experience will be considered. Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, project controls, and construction technology. LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), Professional Engineer (PE), and OSHA 30 certifications are preferred but not required.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Electrical estimating experience, with proficiency in Accubid preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and a working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit. Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing project teams. Strong customer service orientation with a proactive, solution-driven mindset. Ability to interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings. Thorough understanding of electrical codes, labor agreements, and applicable state and local regulations. Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong understanding of complex electrical construction practices and project management principles. Proven ability to build effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, and executive leadership. Ability to follow established policies and procedures while exercising sound judgment and independent decision-making. Professional demeanor with strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
