ENGINEERING MANAGER
Direct Hire-Full time
Lake Charles, LA Essential Functions Department Management:
Manage day-to-day engineering and drafting activities to keep projects on schedule and budget, in coordination with the Design Manager and under the direction of the Director of Engineering. Professional of Record (as assigned): Serve as Professional of Record or Structural Professional of Record on specific projects as assigned or delegated by the Director of Engineering — typically non-complex projects, or when the Director is unavailable — always under the firm's responsible charge as maintained by the Director. The Engineering Manager is not the default Professional of Record and should be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
Design Execution:
Provide and oversee life safety, civil, and structural design of AMC buildings, piles, trenches, duct banks, and specialty precast items.
Review & Checking:
Review precast designs, drawings, and specifications and participate in the firm's independent review process for sealed work.
Lift & Handling:
Provide or oversee lift analysis and handling and erection planning for precast structures.
Project Support:
Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and design revisions through the project lifecycle, and coordinate Fire Marshal and local jurisdiction submittals for permitting.
Production & Field Support:
Provide technical support to Quality, Operations, Field, and Fabrication to meet project goals and resolve constructability issues.
Standards & Automation:
Develop calculation spreadsheets and design aids to standardize and speed repetitive designs and maintain engineering documentation.
Outsource Management:
Manage outsourced designs such as blast design and precast overflow, including one round of drawing review for compliance with calculations.
Staff Development:
Train and mentor engineers, interns, and detailers. Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills for
Success Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of prestressed and precast concrete, PCI standards, connection design, load paths, and erection stability.
Specialty Structures:
Familiarity with underground and buried structures, including soil interaction, durability, and applied loading conditions.
Software:
Experience with ETABS, RISA, SAP2000, and FEA or similar platforms.
Project Management:
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Codes:
Working command of IBC, ACI, PCI, ASCE, and AISC.
Communication:
Effective communication with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
Experience:
Minimum of eight (8) years of structural engineering experience, with meaningful precast / prestressed design exposure and some lead or supervisory experience.
Licensure:
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Must successfully complete drug screening, physical testing, and all required onboarding.
