We are looking to add to our team to keep up with strong customer demand. This is hands on machinist role in a low-volume production environment machining materials such as Aluminum and Stainless.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 4-year technical certificate or 4 year college degree in engineering related field
- Ten (+) years' experience operating and setting up CNC Mills and CNC Lathes
- Five (+) years' experience in leadership
- Strong written technical communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and accountability
- Ability to recognize operational issues before they arise
- Blueprint reading including GD&T
- Knowledge of CAM programming, modern toolpaths, modern tooling, modern fixturing
- Knowledge of hand gaging and modern inspection techniques (CMM) Manage the day-to-day operations of the turning department Manage Machinist level 2/3s for set-up and operation where needed Work with manufacturing planning engineer to coordinate and perform set-ups in the turning department Suggest continuous improvement projects and work with team for execution Monitor production rates and address programming, tooling, machine maintenance or training gaps as needed Ensure turning department employees are time tracking properly and properly counting and tagging parts Responsible for organization of the turning department shop floor for active jobs, ensuring each department is providing the proper documentation and that proper training for jobs is given Ensure compliance with AS9100 and internal QMS standards Ensure production schedule is accurate on a day-to-day level and is being maintained Ensure proactive tool changes are implemented for tougher material jobs and lead cost saving efforts where needed Ensure tool lists and work instructions are present at machine from the programmers Ensure ProShop (ERP) routers are being updated shiftly for correct information Responsible for the flow of work through the shop during shift - operation, set-up, flowing parts into QC, handover between shifts, ensuring ERP system is properly updated by all team members Manage resource allocation throughout the turning department as work load changes daily to flow people to work on proper tasks Direct programmers or set-up machinists to edit CNC program parameters in Esprit as needed Teach others how to monitor tool life, perform tool changes and recommend tool replacement as necessary Teach others how to use precision measuring tools to verify in-process dimensions and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards Work within

Quality Management System- Reports directly to the General Manager
- Internal stakeholders include Manufacturing Planning Engineer, Program Managers, Quality Manager, Engineering Manager, Quality Assurance, etc Direct reports include Machinist all levels and CNC operators on 1st and 2nd shift that work in the turning department Pay and progression for direct reports will be given to the General Manager and administered by the General Manager Second shift will have a designated "lead machinist" responsible for gap coverage, technical troubleshooting support, and time tracking/part count support where needed Alignment with our core values:
