Job Description
Michigan Consulting & Environmental is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer (PE) / Senior Project Manager to lead complex environmental projects from site characterization through remediation and regulatory closure. This is a senior-level, client-facing role ideal for a highly organized professional with strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced consulting environment, communicates clearly with clients and regulators, and brings a solutions-oriented mindset to environmental challenges. This position is based in Traverse City or Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

Manage and oversee environmental site assessments, including soil, soil gas, and groundwater investigations Lead feasibility studies, remedial action plans (RAPs), and remediation system design, construction, and operation Oversee large environmental programs and multiple concurrent projects, ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards Serve as an advanced technical writer and detailed reviewer of environmental data, reports, and deliverables Interface with regulatory agencies including EGLE, MUSTA, USEPA, and local municipal governments Provide high-level technical, regulatory, and strategic advisory support to clients Manage project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control Act as a primary point of contact for client communications and relationship management Lead QA/QC efforts and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards Analyze environmental data to support scientific investigations and engineered solutions Coordinate and participate in regulatory meetings and agency communications Supervise project teams, provide staff leadership, and mentor junior professionals Support risk management and loss prevention efforts Contribute to business development, including expanding relationships with existing clients and supporting growth of the Environmental practiceQUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Michigan (required) 5+ years of experience in environmental consulting Strong working knowledge of Michigan environmental regulations Proven ability to deliver high-quality technical work and client service 40-hourOSHA HAZWOPER
certification (required) Demonstrated success in client development and retention Experience mentoring junior staff in both technical and professional developmentWORK ENVIRONMENT
Combination of office and field work Up to 50% field time, including work in varying and inclement weather conditions Ability to lift up to 25 lbs Attendance at marketing events and client functions as neededJob Type:
