40067 Key Responsibilities & Details A growing heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager / Project Executive to take a leadership role within its project management organization. This is an opportunity for an accomplished heavy civil professional who wants broader ownership than a traditional Project Manager position. The successful candidate will oversee complex projects while also helping establish stronger project management processes, develop less-experienced staff, and support the continued growth of the organization. The ideal candidate understands the full lifecycle of a heavy civil project, from contract review and startup through cost control, forecasting, change management, billing, client management, and closeout. Responsibilities Lead project turnover, startup, planning, and execution Review contracts, scopes, project requirements, and risk Coordinate closely with superintendents and field leadership Manage project costs and financial forecasting Identify, document, price, negotiate, and track change orders Oversee RFIs, submittals, schedules, and project documentation Manage progress billing and coordinate with accounting Maintain strong client, owner, engineer, and general contractor relationships Identify project risks and resolve issues proactively Oversee project closeout Develop and improve project management standards, systems, reporting, and processes Mentor and develop Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and project support staff Help build a scalable project management organization as the company grows Qualifications Significant project management experience within heavy civil construction Strong understanding of project costs, forecasting, contracts, scope, change management, billing, and project controls Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex construction projects Strong experience working with field operations and experienced superintendents Background in excavation, earthwork, utilities, infrastructure, site development, or similar self-performed civil construction Strong judgment and ability to make decisions independently Excellent communication with clients, field personnel, engineers, subcontractors, and internal leadership Strongly Preferred Experience managing or mentoring Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers Experience developing project management systems and processes Experience within a structured heavy civil construction organization Previous responsibility beyond managing an individual project portfolio A specific degree is less important than demonstrated heavy civil construction knowledge, leadership ability, judgment, and a track record of successful project execution. Compensation will be competitive for an experienced heavy civil leader and may include performance incentives, vehicle or vehicle allowance, and benefits.
