Position Summary The Facility Operation Director (FOD) is a senior level position reporting to the Director of Waste and Facility Operations. The FOD position at
N3B CH-TRU
is responsible for managing and maintaining safe, secure, and compliant work environments at TA-54, enabling efficient and effective mission execution for the CH-TRU Project. The FOD position provides management oversight and compliance for programmatic operations within the TA-54, Area G nuclear facility and the balance of TA-54 including direct management responsibility of the TA-54 Operations Center, Shift Operations Managers, and Nuclear Operators. The scope of this position provides support and facility availability for waste management activities, including characterization, remediation, retrievals, and repackaging efforts for off-site waste disposition of TRU and M/LLW. The FOD position ensures that there is adequate Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and ESH&Q support facility and waste operations at TA-54. Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to): Reviews operational performance from a regulatory/safety standpoint and formally reports issues and/or recommendations. Provides feedback and implements corrective actions to ensure operational risk is minimized. Executes facility and operations related solutions to problems regarding operations, engineering, maintenance, nuclear and industrial safety, and regulatory issues. Advises management of the status of work in progress, operational risks, facility status, and status of corrective actions and process improvements to support safe work execution in a nuclear facility. Coordinates interdepartmental activity with operations, project management, quality assurance, engineering, maintenance, and work control, etc. Can be viewed as an expert within a specialty and as highly competent within the broad discipline, both internally and externally. Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities): In-depth understanding of, and experience in, applying a graded approach in operating Nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
