Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Permit Expediter to join our team. This crucial role will be responsible for navigating the complex permitting landscape of New York City, and Long Island, ensuring all sign projects comply with local zoning ordinances and building codes. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of municipal regulations and a proven track record of successfully obtaining permits in a timely manner.What You'll Do:
As a Permit Expediter at National Sign & Lighting, you will: Build relationships with key decision makers at various state, county and city agencies Research and understand local zoning and permit requirements Prepare, submit and monitor various filed permits Serve as a liaison between local agencies and our engineering team Deliver and obtain time sensitive engineering and architectural documentsWhat We're Looking For:
Experience:
Proven experience (e.g., 3-5 years) as a Permit Expediter, preferably within the sign, construction, or architectural industries.NYC Permitting Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) permitting process, including zoning resolutions, building codes, and specific requirements for sign permits. Familiarity with the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) for projecting signs.Long Island Permitting Expertise:
Demonstrated understanding of permitting processes across various Long Island municipalities, including Nassau and Suffolk Counties, and their respective towns and villages (e.g., Hempstead, Oyster Bay, Brookhaven, Islip). Knowledge of local zoning ordinances pertaining to signage is essential.Technical Skills:
Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with municipal officials, clients, and internal teams.Organizational Skills:
Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.Problem-Solving:
Proactive problem-solver with a strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve permitting challenges.Software Proficiency:
