Job Description:
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Product Engineering Manager to lead the full lifecycle development of a UL 891-compliant low-voltage switchboard product portfolio. This individual will combine hands-on technical expertise with people leadership, product strategy, and cross-functional collaboration. The Product Engineering Manager will be responsible for delivering reliable, scalable, and efficient electrical distribution solutions for modern data center environments while driving innovation, quality, and continuous improvement across the product line. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and enhancement of UL 891-compliant low-voltage switchboards and related electrical distribution products. Manage, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers. Ensure products comply with UL 891, NEC, IEEE, NEMA, and other applicable industry standards and electrical codes. Own the product engineering roadmap in collaboration with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and other business stakeholders. Establish product specifications, material requirements, component selections, and performance criteria. Oversee product prototyping, testing, validation, and third-party certification activities. Manage the UL certification process and work directly with testing agencies and certification representatives. Partner with Sales and customers to understand and incorporate data center power distribution requirements. Provide technical guidance and support to sales, marketing, manufacturing, production, and field service teams. Evaluate market trends, competitive offerings, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product improvement and innovation. Maintain accurate engineering documentation, including bills of materials, drawings, technical specifications, and test reports. Ensure engineering initiatives are delivered according to established schedules, budgets, quality expectations, and business objectives. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; a master's degree is preferred. At least 7-10 years of experience designing low-voltage switchboards, panelboards, or comparable electrical distribution equipment. At least three years of experience leading engineering teams or directly managing technical professionals. Advanced knowledge of UL 891, NEC, IEEE, and NEMA standards. Experience developing electrical distribution products for data center environments. Demonstrated experience managing UL certification activities and working directly with UL representatives. Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or comparable CAD and engineering design tools. Strong project management, organizational, communication, and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to work effectively across engineering, product, manufacturing, quality, sales, and customer-facing teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience applying lean manufacturing and design-for-manufacturability principles. Understanding of data center infrastructure, electrical architectures, and power distribution strategies. Experience with sheet metal fabrication, busbar systems, and electrical enclosure design. Familiarity with PLCs, intelligent metering, smart grid solutions, or other connected power technologies.
