Job Description

For this opening, we're looking for someone with 2-7 years of experience that includes at least some plant layout responsibilities. Pay is based on a combination of education and relevant experience. Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required. The Layout Integration Engineer will support the Central Layout Group by developing and integrating layouts for Vision, Site, Future, and Current Production projects. This role will lead integration meetings, manage technical direction, and support layout activities from concept through installation, utilizing 2D and 3D AutoCAD.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute layout development and integration for multiple GM North America facilities, including Body, Paint, General Assembly, Press Operations, Conveyors, Casting, Engine, Transmission, Battery, and Electrified platforms. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for plant, program, and Manufacturing Engineering (ME) center customers. Ensure compliance with layout standards and procedures. Incorporate input from multiple disciplines to develop efficient, lean layouts with minimal floor space and building renovations. Lead integration meetings, maintain issue logs, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration throughout the layout development process. Create installation-level design details as needed. Manage and maintain layout drawing files and ensure all incoming files meet Central Layout Group standards. Provide additional support and contributions as required.
Qualifications Required:
3+ years of layout experience utilizing AutoCAD 3+ years of experience in an automotive manufacturing setting Hands on manual field checking Demonstrated ability to organize, plan and execute manufacturing projects Demonstrated ability to work well with multiple customers at the same time High level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills ensuring the ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Ability to effectively organize and lead meetings or workshops High level of analytical ability and problem solving skills College degree or equivalent experience and training Ability to travel to North American facilities without restriction Preferred 5+ years 3D layout experience utilizing AutoCAD 3+ years of Production, Maintenance, or ME experience in Casting, Engine, or Transmission. Experience with NavisWorks, Unigraphics (NX), and Vis Mockup Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Lean Material Flow Working knowledge of GM standards and processes
