Starts at $105,000 annually (higher based on experience) Position Summary We are seeking a Project Engineer specializing in packaging systems to lead and support engineering projects within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing packaging equipment initiatives from initial concept through implementation, validation, and ongoing performance improvement. This position is ideal for someone who can independently manage projects while collaborating across departments to support production efficiency, compliance, and operational goals. Core Responsibilities Engineering & Implementation Provide technical leadership for packaging equipment across new and existing product lines Design and develop packaging line layouts, supporting system integration and optimization Oversee equipment installation, commissioning, and validation activities Develop and execute testing protocols to verify system performance Participate in vendor selection processes, including FAT and SAT evaluations Project Management Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with timelines, scope, and budgets Prepare cost estimates and track project expenditures Support capital planning initiatives and long-term project planning Deliver regular project updates and progress reports to stakeholders Review and approve contractor submissions, including proposals and change documentation Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and Procurement teams to drive project success Coordinate with external vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient execution Maintain alignment with internal engineering standards and regulatory expectations Compliance & Continuous Improvement Ensure all activities comply with cGMP and applicable regulatory standards Support change control processes and validation requirements for equipment and systems Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and standardization Promote continuous improvement and compliance-focused practices Documentation & Training Develop and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, reports, and job aids Maintain accurate project records and documentation Train operations personnel on new systems and updated processes Serve as a technical resource for team members Required Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (regulated industries preferred) Hands-on experience with equipment design, installation, and validation Key Skills Strong project management and organizational abilities Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Working knowledge of cGMP and regulatory environments Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams Experience with CAD or similar design tools is a plus Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary starting at $105,000 (based on experience) Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage Company-paid disability and life insurance 401(k) retirement plan Additional benefits and support programs Why This Opportunity This role offers the chance to take ownership of impactful packaging engineering projects while working in a collaborative, regulated manufacturing environment focused on innovation, efficiency, and quality.
