Job Description

This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for an Environmental Engineer for our Minneapolis, MN office. WSP environmental engineers enjoy completing a wide a range of environmental assessment, inspection and remediation projects. Selected applicant will take part in providing local technical assistance for investigations of soil, air, and groundwater and protection and mitigation efforts relating to water supply, property transfers, hazardous or solid waste disposal, air emission sources, and pollution control. Generates accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards. Your Impact Under general supervision, provide field support on a wide variety of environmental projects including site assessment, remediation, compliance programs, Phase I environmental site assessments, and sampling/monitoring. Conduct subsurface investigations which including drilling, geologic/geotechnical logging and environmental media sampling. Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements. Perform engineering calculations, cost estimates, data validation, and report preparation. Prepare reports, including documentation field investigative procedures, data management and interpretation, development of graphical and tabular presentation of data, and Phase 1 environmental site assessments. Utilize GIS to support data evaluation, presentation and mapping, as applicable. Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site, providing entry-level technical assistance on various environmental issues. Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook. Work closely with WSP project managers to meet client expectations with regards to defined project objectives, schedule, budget, change management, problem solving, and project deliverables. Demonstrate proficiency using Microsoft Office products and strong technical writing and data analysis skills. Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, the maintenance of sample collection, location data, statistical documentation, and logbooks. Complete training on assigned tasks. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Collaborate with senior engineers to evaluate, select, and design site remedies involving contaminated soil, groundwater, and vapor leading to regulatory closure. Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Civil, or Geological, Engineering or closely related discipline. 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience Excellent problem solving skills with analytical mindset. Familiarity with the concepts of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances, processes, or products. Familiarity with relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives. Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical work week. Occasional travel (potentially up to 40%) may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in rough terrain. Must possess a valid US driver's license and successfully complete WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer in Training Certification (or ability to obtain).
Certifications:
OSHA 40-Hour
HAZWOPER
Training Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $63,000 - $90,000 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law. #LI-LD1
