at Department of Transportation in Effingham, Illinois, United States Job Description Essential Functions Submits environmental survey requests to the Bureau of Design and Environment. Assesses hazardous waste surveys and submits work orders. Processes borrow waste area requests. Assists and coordinates with the Senior Environmental Studies Technician with reports related to environmental studies. Performs duties in accordance with departmental safety policies. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum, PLUS thirty months of engineering experience; OR six years of engineering experience. Preferred Qualifications Extensive experience in the performance of a variety of technical activities relating to civil engineering. Knowledge of regulatory policies that pertain to the environmental sciences. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, Computer Aided Design and Drafting ( CADD ), Geographic Information System ( GIS ), and web-based databases to complete assignments. Strong oral and/or written communication skills. Conditions of Employment Requires a valid driver’s license. Requires occasional district-wide travel.
