Job Description
Position Summary:
Mechanical Engineer to independently develop HVAC/ Plumbing designs for industrial, commercial, and institutional projects. The successful candidate will work directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams, guide designers and junior engineers, and support projects from early studies through construction and commissioning.Basic Duties:
- Develop HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, and utility system concepts, calculations, design criteria, layouts, equipment selections, and construction documents.
- Perform and review heating and cooling loads, air and water distribution, duct and piping sizing, pressure-drop calculations, and plumbing demand calculations.
- Prepare and review specifications, equipment schedules and data sheets, bid packages, technical evaluations, reports, and cost-estimate inputs.
- Coordinate Revit and AutoCAD designs with other disciplines; identify code, constructability, and clash issues.
- Review vendor drawings, submittals, and requests for information, and provide field engineering, construction, commissioning, and startup support.
- Perform quality reviews; mentor designers and junior engineers; support project scope, schedule, budget, client meetings, and delivery of multiple assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 4 years of progressive HVAC and plumbing design experience in a consulting, construction, or similar project environment.
- Ability to independently complete calculations, equipment selection, coordinated layouts, specifications, and construction documents.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and HVAC load-calculation software such as Carrier HAP or Trane
TRACE 3D
Plus.- Working knowledge of applicable building, mechanical, plumbing, energy, and fire/life-safety codes and standards, including ASHRAE, ICC, and NFPA requirements.
- Strong communication, client-service, organization, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to M3 offices and project sites; a valid passport or the ability to obtain one is required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, EIT candidates nearing PE eligibility will be considered.
- Experience leading HVAC/plumbing tasks on multidisciplinary projects and reviewing the work of designers or junior engineers.
- Experience with commercial, industrial, or process facilities, industrial ventilation, and construction-phase services.
- Bilingual English/Spanish
