A Facilities Engineer supports engineering activities surrounding planning, design, and maintenance in a number of indoor environments; including manufacturing facilities, power stations, hospitals, and offices.
Engineering Reports to: Engineering Manager The Engineering Technician at dB Control is responsible for performing a wide range of technical assignments, including building prototypes, testing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and calibrating electronic and mechanical equipment. Responsibilities include testing high-voltage AC and DC switching‑mode power supplies and subassemblies to verify performance and design adequacy; integrating power supplies with Traveling Wave Tubes (TWTs); and performing RF testing, environmental stress screening, altitude testing, and vibration testing. The role requires the ability to troubleshoot analog and digital circuits down to the component level, as well as a solid understanding of power electronics theory. Candidates must have a strong working knowledge of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), RF signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and power meters. Work is performed from sketches and verbal instructions under limited supervision. Duties and Responsibilities Performs complex electronic, mechanical, and technical assignments such as building prototypes; troubleshooting; calibrating; adjusting; testing; and maintaining equipment, components, and systems. Works from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions. Conducts testing of electronic and mechanical systems and adjusts or improvises procedures when necessary. Develops or modifies electronic products and equipment to meet company or customer requirements. Operates electronic, mechanical, and laboratory equipment required to construct, test, evaluate, process, repair, and maintain products or equipment. Recommends changes or modifications to improve general operation or enhance the quality of products, equipment, measurements, or processes. May determine methods, operations, and sequences for procedures related to constructing, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, processing, and modifying electronic products and equipment. May design or improve complex electronic and mechanical equipment, tools, and fixtures. Provides technical assistance as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of related experience, or a combination of education and direct experience totaling 7 years. Experience working in a manufacturing or engineering prototype environment. Experience using electronic test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyzers, PNAs, and other advanced testing tools. Basic computer skills. Qualifications AA/AS degree in a related technical field or equivalent technical training; equivalent experience or a combination of schooling and experience is preferred. In‑depth understanding of switching power supply concepts, RF testing, and the instruments and equipment used in the assigned work area. Ability to learn quickly, stay highly motivated, and adapt to new processes.
