What to Expect Tesla is seeking a Senior Facilities Mechanical Engineer to support facility infrastructure, utility systems, and capital project execution across manufacturing, pilot manufacturing, R D, laboratory, and engineering facilities. This role is responsible for the design, operation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems supporting research, development, and manufacturing activities. The successful candidate will lead facility infrastructure projects from concept through commissioning while partnering with operations, EHS, construction, maintenance, and engineering teams. Responsibilities include development of engineering scopes, design reviews, equipment selection, contractor management, startup support, and operational troubleshooting. The ideal candidate combines strong engineering fundamentals with practical field experience and a demonstrated ability to deliver projects in fast-paced technical environments. Level and responsibilities will be commensurate with experience. What You'll Do
Lead design and execution of mechanical facility infrastructure projects supporting laboratories, pilot operations, manufacturing, and R D facilities
Develop engineering scopes of work, equipment specifications, design packages, and construction documents
Support operation, troubleshooting, and optimization of HVAC, chilled water, process cooling, compressed air, vacuum, industrial gas, exhaust, and utility systems
Perform technical reviews of engineering designs, calculations, and contractor deliverables
Manage equipment vendors, contractors, consultants, and construction activities through project completion
Support commissioning, startup, qualification, and turnover of facility systems and capital projects
Investigate operational issues and implement corrective actions to improve system reliability, efficiency, and maintainability
Partner with EHS, Facilities Operations, Construction, Maintenance, and End Users to develop safe and compliant engineering solutions
Support capital planning, cost estimating, budgeting, and project scheduling activities
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and project teams What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
3+ years of experience supporting mechanical facility systems in manufacturing, semiconductor, laboratory, research, chemical processing, or related industrial environments Compensation and Benefits

Expected Compensation
$130,400 - $234,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
