Experience:
3+ years Job Summary We are seeking a Facilities Process Chemical/Mechanical Engineer to support complex industrial and advanced manufacturing facility projects in Santa Clara, CA. This position will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for designing and supporting process utility systems, equipment installations, facility upgrades, and construction activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mechanical facilities systems, process piping, HVAC, hydronics, exhaust, plumbing, and process chemicals/gases , along with strong communication and problem-solving skills. This is an on-site position with direct interaction with facility stakeholders, equipment owners, contractors, manufacturers, and other engineering disciplines. Key Responsibilities Design and develop layouts for wet and dry piping, equipment, HVAC, exhaust, fire suppression, process chemical piping, and process gases. Design and support piping systems for equipment water, wastewater, process chemicals, and gases. Develop facility modifications and retrofit designs to accommodate new equipment and manufacturing tools. Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, component selection, and technical specifications. Develop utility requirement documentation and installation design packages. Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, architectural, structural, and other engineering disciplines. Work directly with equipment owners, stakeholders, equipment manufacturers, contractors, and construction teams. Provide engineering support during construction and equipment integration. Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and field-related technical issues. Participate in field walks and construction-site activities. Support troubleshooting and resolution of design and installation issues. Help develop practical, cost-effective, and constructible engineering solutions. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university. 3+ years of practical mechanical facilities engineering experience. Experience with one or more of the following: HVAC Hydronics Process piping Industrial exhaust systems Plumbing Process chemicals Process gases Mechanical facility systems EIT certification/status with active pursuit of a PE license. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams. Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Navisworks is highly desirable. Preferred Qualifications Experience with semiconductor manufacturing facilities, cleanrooms, or other highly complex industrial facilities . Experience with semiconductor manufacturing tools, including their manufacture, installation, integration, or operation. Experience developing utility requirements for manufacturing equipment. At least 1 year of field experience in an industrial or manufacturing facility. Experience supporting construction, equipment installation, commissioning, or facility integration. Familiarity with construction documents, RFIs, submittals, and field coordination. Passion for engineering, buildings, construction, and complex industrial environments. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to evolving project requirements. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This is an on-site position in Santa Clara, CA . The successful candidate must be able to commute to the client site Monday through Friday during normal business hours.
The role may require:
Walking extended distances throughout an active industrial/construction site. Standing and sitting for extended periods. Bending, stooping, twisting, and crawling. Climbing ladders and accessing catwalks. Working in confined or small spaces. Participating in construction and facility field walks. Lifting and carrying materials or equipment weighing up to 25 lbs. Work Authorization Candidates must be fully authorized to work in the United States . Sponsorship is not available for this position. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of applicable background and drug screening requirements. Compensation $40-$57 per hour , depending on qualifications and experience. This position is structured as contract-to-hire , providing an opportunity for long-term employment based on performance and business needs. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
