• 110,000 per year + up to $20,000 annual performance bonus Plumbums LLC is a growing, family-owned plumbing and mechanical company in Connecticut.

We are looking for an experienced Connecticut-licensed HVAC contractor to help us build and lead our Heating & Cooling Division. This is not a typical HVAC technician position, and we are not looking for a commissioned salesperson. We already have an established plumbing company, customer base, office support, fleet, field employees, equipment, and lead-generation infrastructure. We are looking for the right HVAC professional to bring the contractor-level licensing, technical knowledge, and leadership needed to expand our existing boiler and hydronic work while building the forced-air, air-conditioning, heat-pump, and HVAC service side of the company. Initially, this will be a hands-on working leadership position . You will still work in the field while helping ownership establish the systems, standards, equipment, pricing, and procedures for the new division. As the Heating & Cooling Division grows and additional employees are added, this position is intended to develop into a larger management and leadership role. Compensation & Benefits $90,000

What You'll Help Build Our Heating & Cooling Division will include: Boilers and hydronic heating Gas-fired heating systems Furnaces Central air conditioning Heat pumps Ductless and mini-split systems HVAC service and diagnostics Equipment replacements Residential and light commercial work Emergency heating and cooling service Our company already has an established plumbing customer base and generates service and project leads. You will not be expected to build a customer base completely from scratch. Responsibilities Perform heating and cooling installation, service, repair, and diagnostic work Lead boiler and hydronic heating projects Perform and oversee furnace, AC, heat-pump, and ductless installations Diagnose HVAC and heating system problems Conduct site visits for replacements and larger projects Assist with system design, equipment sizing, and equipment selection Prepare or assist with estimates and project proposals Explain legitimate repair and replacement options to customers Coordinate projects with ownership, our office manager, and field employees Oversee work performed within the Heating & Cooling Division Coordinate permitting and inspection requirements Help establish HVAC installation and service standards Assist with pricing and job-costing procedures Develop truck-stock and inventory standards Help establish supplier and manufacturer relationships Train and develop HVAC helpers, apprentices, and future technicians Perform quality control as the department grows Help develop the long-term staffing and operational structure of the division Participate in the company's emergency on-call operation Licensing Requirements A current Connecticut contractor-level heating and cooling license appropriate for the work being performed is required. Connecticut S-1 Unlimited Heating, Piping & Cooling Contractor license is strongly preferred. Other Connecticut contractor-level HVAC licenses may be considered depending on license scope, experience, and qualifications. This position requires a contractor-level license. Journeyperson-only licenses do not meet the licensing requirement for this particular position. Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate: Has substantial hands-on HVAC and heating experience Has strong boiler and hydronic heating knowledge Has strong HVAC diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities Understands furnaces, central AC, heat pumps, and ductless systems Understands electrical controls and HVAC troubleshooting Understands airflow, ductwork, equipment sizing, and system operation Is knowledgeable about Connecticut codes, permits, and inspections Can work independently in the field Communicates professionally with customers and coworkers Can train and develop less-experienced employees Is organized and comfortable working with an existing office team Takes pride in quality workmanship Wants to help build and lead a department rather than simply run service calls Previous management experience is a plus, but it is not necessarily required. We are also interested in an experienced licensed contractor who has the technical ability, leadership skills, and ambition to grow into the management side of the position. No High-Pressure Sales We are plumbers and mechanical contractors, not commissioned salespeople. There are no individual sales quotas and no individual sales commissions attached to this position. We expect our HVAC Division Lead to properly diagnose systems, identify legitimate problems, explain available options, recommend replacement when appropriate, and help customers make informed decisions. We do not expect employees to sell customers equipment or repairs they don't need. The performance bonus for this position is based on the overall success of the Heating & Cooling Division , not how much equipment an individual employee sells. On-Call & Emergency Service Participation in emergency service is required. The employee receives separate compensation for carrying the on-call rotation. Actual qualifying after-hours emergency field work is compensated at $100/hour in addition to base salary . As the Heating & Cooling Division grows and additional qualified employees are added, our goal is to develop a sustainable rotating HVAC emergency schedule. A Real Growth Opportunity We are not simply looking to fill another service truck. We are looking for someone who wants to work with an established plumbing company to build a successful Heating & Cooling Division. You will have the opportunity to help shape how the department operates, including equipment standards, installation procedures, service practices, estimating, inventory, employee training, and future staffing. Initially, this will be a working leadership position. As the division grows, we expect the role to increasingly focus on project oversight, estimating, employee development, quality control, and division management.
