This job description outlines the essential duties, responsibilities, qualifications, and working conditions for the position of Hotel Engineer (Maintenance) at Siesta Key Beach Resort and Suites. It is designed to comply with federal and Florida state labor laws, as well as internal company standards. This document serves both as an operational guide and as a compliance reference for auditors and HR purposes. Position Summary The Hotel Engineer is responsible for maintaining all areas of the resort, including guestrooms, public spaces, and exterior areas, to ensure safety, functionality, and high-quality guest experience. This position involves hands-on repair work, preventive maintenance, and collaboration with management to maintain property standards and compliance with safety regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and repair duties across all hotel areas according to established procedures and quality standards.
  • Inspect and document maintenance activities, including work orders, room inspections, and repair logs.
  • Complete the shift engineer checklist daily and report abnormalities or safety concerns immediately.
  • Maintain an organized and clean workshop and storage areas.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, including safety, hygiene, and uniform standards.
  • Assist in inventory control, ordering, and proper storage of tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and emergency calls within designated time frames.
  • Conduct safety checks and follow all departmental safety procedures and policies.
  • Inspect hotel property for maintenance issues such as lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Perform minor furniture, equipment, and lock repairs as needed.
  • Assist with landscaping and upkeep of exterior areas as assigned.
  • Understand and practice emergency and fire procedures in accordance with company standards.
  • Uphold a safe, organized, and professional work environment at all times.
  • Provide excellent service to guests and internal departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    Experience:
    Prior experience in maintenance, facility operations, or hotel engineering preferred.
      Licenses/Certifications:
      None required, but technical training or HVAC certification is a plus. Skills
      • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
      • Ability to read blueprints and troubleshoot repairs independently.
      • Proficient with hand and power tools.
      • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
      • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
      , climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
      Compensation and Benefits Pay:
      $25.00 - $30.00 per hour. (Based on experience)
      Benefits:

      Schedule:
      8-hour shifts with availability for nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotation as required.
