ABM Industries is seeking an Ammonia Refrigeration Plant Engineer to support safe, reliable operation of industrial refrigeration systems within our Facility Services portfolio. Reporting to Engineering, Maintenance & Asset Management, you will operate, monitor, and maintain ammonia refrigeration equipment; perform preventive and corrective maintenance; respond to alarms; and support energy-efficient, code-compliant operations. You will document work, coordinate vendors, assist with capital and reliability projects, and champion ABM's culture of safety, inclusion, and continuous improvement across diverse client facilities. Responsibilities Operate, monitor, and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems and related equipment Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on compressors, condensers, evaporators, and controls Respond to system alarms, diagnose issues, and restore equipment to safe operation Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, IIAR, PSM/RMP, and site safety procedures Maintain logs, CMMS work orders, and documentation for inspections and audits Support energy efficiency, reliability improvements, and small capital projects Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and site operations during maintenance activities Participate in PSM/RMP activities, inspections, and emergency response drills Perform routine inspections, leak checks, and system performance monitoring Promote ABM's culture of safety, inclusion, teamwork, and continuous improvement Required Skills Ammonia refrigeration system operation Industrial refrigeration maintenance HVAC/R troubleshooting PLC and control systems basics Process Safety Management (PSM) knowledge EPA and OSHA regulatory compliance Piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) reading CMMS and maintenance documentation Mechanical and electrical diagnostics Energy efficiency and system optimization
