Job Title:
Maintenance Concept Engineering Expert Job Description The Maintenance Concept Engineering Expert provides maintenance engineering, reliability, maintainability, logistics, and lifecycle sustainment support for Department of War and Army systems and equipment. In this role, you support government-led efforts to develop, assess, implement, and improve maintenance concepts that optimize readiness, availability, safety, affordability, and long-term sustainment. You translate operational and technical requirements into practical sustainment strategies, maintenance plans, analyses, and decision-ready products that directly impact mission success and the security of troops in the field. Responsibilities Provide maintenance engineering and lifecycle sustainment support for Department of War and Army systems and equipment. Support government-led initiatives to develop, assess, implement, and refine maintenance concepts that enhance readiness, availability, safety, affordability, and long-term sustainment. Apply expertise in maintenance concept development, reliability and maintainability (RAM), condition-based maintenance (CBM+), performance-based logistics (PBL), provisioning, sparing, and system safety. Contribute to the development, review, and improvement of technical manuals, RPSTLs, MACs, and other logistics-support documentation. Perform failure analysis and problem resolution for fielded systems to improve reliability, maintainability, and overall system performance. Conduct maintenance-task analysis, reliability and maintainability analyses, and product-support analyses to inform sustainment strategies and maintenance plans. Integrate human performance considerations and system safety requirements into maintenance concepts and sustainment strategies. Analyze complex technical, operational, reliability, maintenance, logistics, safety, and cost data to generate clear, actionable conclusions. Prepare technical reports, analyses, plans, briefings, and decision-support products for stakeholders and decision makers. Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary government-contractor team while also working independently as needed. Use applicable maintenance, reliability, logistics, technical-data, or modeling tools, along with Microsoft Office applications, to support engineering and sustainment activities. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in engineering, logistics, systems engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, reliability engineering, maintenance management, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience where permitted by contract requirements. Progressively responsible experience in maintenance engineering, reliability engineering, maintainability engineering, lifecycle logistics, systems engineering, or defense sustainment. Demonstrated experience developing or assessing maintenance concepts, maintenance plans, sustainment strategies, or product-support analyses. Working knowledge of reliability and maintainability (RAM) principles, reliability metrics, maintainability analysis, maintenance-task analysis, provisioning, and sparing concepts. Experience supporting technical manuals, RPSTLs, MACs, maintenance demonstrations, technical-data reviews, or related logistics-support products. Ability to analyze complex technical, operational, reliability, maintenance, logistics, safety, and cost data and communicate conclusions clearly in both written and verbal form. Experience preparing technical reports, analyses, plans, briefings, and decision-support materials for diverse stakeholders. Strong written communication, analytical, organizational, and stakeholder-coordination skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with maintenance, reliability, logistics, technical-data, or modeling tools applicable to assigned work. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary government-contractor team. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in maintenance engineering, sustainment, reliability, and failure analysis. Experience in Reliability and Maintenance (RAM) engineering and sustainment analysis. Ability to develop, interpret, and maintain technical documentation related to maintenance and logistics. Interest in supporting complex, mission-critical defense systems with a focus on long-term sustainment. Motivation to contribute to work that is interesting, fulfilling, and vital to the security of troops in the field. Work Environment This position is based on-site in a prototype laboratory environment at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG). You will work closely with government and contractor personnel on a large, stable defense program, engaging with advanced systems and sustainment concepts. The environment emphasizes collaboration, technical rigor, and mission impact, with flexibility in benefits and opportunities to contribute to a growing organization on a major long-term contract. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $160000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
