Job Description
Position Summary Residence Inn by Marriott Auburn is seeking an experienced, hands-on Chief Engineer to lead and execute all engineering and maintenance operations for our newly renovated 100-room extended-stay hotel. This position is responsible for maintaining the property's physical assets, ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction, maximizing equipment reliability, and maintaining Marriott brand standards. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who excels in preventive maintenance, capital planning, life safety compliance, vendor management, and team leadership in a high-occupancy hotel environment. Essential Responsibilities Direct, oversee and execute all engineering and maintenance operations throughout the hotel. Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive preventive maintenance program. Maintain guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and exterior grounds in excellent condition. Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests while ensuring superior guest satisfaction. Ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards and property operating procedures. Maintain all HVAC, plumbing, electrical, kitchen, laundry, pool, fire safety, and mechanical systems. Manage maintenance work orders Perform regular inspections to identify repair needs and safety concerns. Coordinate and supervise outside contractors and service providers. Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment. Prepare capital improvement recommendations and assist with project planning. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, local building codes, and fire/life safety regulations. Maintain emergency procedures and respond appropriately to equipment failures and emergency situations. Participate in Manager on Duty and on-call rotations as required. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of hotel engineering experience, including supervisory responsibilities. Previous Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer experience preferred. Experience with Marriott hotels or other major hotel brands preferred.
Strong knowledge of:
HVAC systems Electrical systems Plumbing Laundry equipment Boilers and water heaters Fire alarm and life safety systems Preventive maintenance programs Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues independently. Strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Computer proficiency with maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office. Valid driver's license preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Frequent walking, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be available for evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins when necessary and available.
