full-time GPI is seeking a dynamic and accomplished Professional Engineer to lead our Mechanical Engineering team in our Metro New York office located in Suffern, NY. This key leadership position will oversee the technical direction, operational management, and continued growth of our mechanical engineering practice, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design projects throughout the Tri-State area. Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineering professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system designs. Manage department operations, including workload planning, resource allocation, and project performance. Establish and implement engineering standards, best practices, and quality control procedures. Conduct site investigations, field assessments, and technical evaluations, and prepare related reports and recommendations. Support project teams throughout all phases of project delivery, from proposal development through construction administration. Collaborate with project managers to define project scope, schedule, budget, and technical approaches. Assist with permitting requirements, regulatory compliance, and preparation of client presentations and technical proposals. Build and maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for new and repeat business. Represent GPI within professional organizations, industry associations, and business development events. Contribute to strategic planning and growth initiatives for the MEP practice throughout the region. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York required. 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in MEP engineering and project management. Extensive technical expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design. Strong working knowledge of New York State Building Code, International Building Code (IBC), Mechanical Code, Plumbing Code, and applicable NFPA standards. Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams and complex multidisciplinary projects. Proven success in client development, proposal preparation, and project delivery. Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Ability to effectively balance technical excellence, staff development, and business growth objectives.
