Adjunct Instructor HVAC/R

Stark State College is seeking a qualified Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration technician to serve as a part-time instructor at the Ohio Department of Youth Services Juvenile Correctional facility located at Indian River in Massillon. Instructors are expected to teach assigned courses as scheduled in classroom or shop settings at various times. Proficiency of Instruction will include the following areas: Refrigeration Cooling and air conditioning Heating systems Heat pumps Air Distribution Hydronics Installation Safety Materials, Estimating, Tools and Equipment Basic Electrical Processes Communications Leadership and Teamwork Ethical Aspects Problem Solving and Critical Thinking The instructor shall assume primary responsibility for and exercises oversight of the curriculum in conjunction with the Department's policies, ensuring both the rigor of programs and the quality of instruction. Education, Experience and Licensure/Certification Requirements HS Diploma/Degree required Five years of trade or apprenticeship experience required EPA 608 certification is required. HVAC or related journeyman and/or Associate's or Bachelor's in HVAC/R or related field 10 - Hour OSHA certification preferred Demonstrate leadership and/or classroom experience Strong communication and organizational skills needed Must be an organized individual with good HVAC, mechanical, and electrical skills. Good communication skills and a positive attitude are a must. Knowledge of tools, materials, and test equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration HVAC control systems. Skill in analyzing HVAC malfunctions from performance and test equipment readings and in determining appropriate repairs. Skill in reading and understanding schematics of electrical circuits. Knowledge of safety practices.
